In defense of the lack of "realism" in his depiction of futuristic gaming, the author states, in the book, that future battle fields could be so dominated by electronic warfare, drones, nanotech, etc. that troops might never see each other, even at stupidly long ranges. This would make it difficult, if not impossible, to make a fun or compelling game in 6-15mm with even a massive table. So, the direction FWC went with is intentional and, in many cases, reflects that "future warfare", as depicted in a variety of media is essentially WWII-Vietnam War era concepts of warfare with pointy ears and a funny hat. Aliens is a great example of this retro futuristic view. Hell, Dune and Warhammer 40k are so backward that an IBM compatible from 1988 running DOS would count as a technological marvel. So, while it may not be Future Warfare in a realistic fashion, based on speculation and extrapolation on current real world trends, it IS the kind of ridiculous and fun sci fi which supports jump pack assault troops rushing into hand to hand and settings where people bother to do silly things like paint camouflage on walking bipedal robots the size of office blocks. Both things which are stupid beyond all reason and beloved by many gamers.Smallworldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13917760718366883110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2225875593099728358.post-3959356965217952312009-03-10T20:01:00.000+00:002009-03-10T20:01:00.000+00:00Brilliant site, cheers for the hard work.Excellcent...Brilliant site, cheers for the hard work.Excellcent news on the new REBEL-MINIS marines,i did not know about them,
HUSSAR !! Confirms some of my suspicions about FWC, and indicates it won't be the ruleset for me (except maybe for pickup games at a club against GW fanatics). I was hoping for more at the realism end of the spectrum (i.e. some decent LOS rules that would encourage realistic tactics rather than 'line up and shoot').

Each to their own though!dylanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11669778678182740270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2225875593099728358.post-5129388652577335842009-03-03T19:20:00.000+00:002009-03-03T19:20:00.000+00:00Hi EliVery easy to create your own House Rules for...Hi Eli

Very easy to create your own House Rules for FWC. Also the inclusion of a tech level above advanced would have been nice.

How hard would these be to make house rules for and if you do, are you going to post them?

-EliEli Arndthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10445801567500822187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2225875593099728358.post-49033566612447758922009-03-02T20:55:00.000+00:002009-03-02T20:55:00.000+00:00Yes EliYou build and assign stats to your elements...Yes Eli

You build and assign stats to your elements ('Units') first then you build your 'Formation/s'.
