Cultists, Spider Bugs, and Spartan Tanks

15mm.Co.Uk has added two more packs to the sinister HOF Cultists range. The Speeders look wickedly fast, and have that perfect ramshackle appearance that I've been envisioning for the Cultists. And the Holy Guard look like the perfect enforcers for the Cult. One can imagine these performing the most unsavory of deeds in a spaceport or colony setting, or maybe "enforcing the rules" among other Cultists.

The miniatures in both packs (as with the entire Cultists range) are also available as single castings.

Rebel Minis has added the Spider Bug to the Sci-Fi Bugs and Creatures range. This is another product from the ex-Mongoose Starship Troopers range. Its legs are flexible enough to reposition; you could build 3-5 of these and they will each look like a unique sculpt.

It's great that Rebel Mike acquired these molds. Even though they were originally designed for 28mm, they work really well as big beasts in 15mm sci fi games. A handful of these are all you need for a single army - ambushing a convoy or invading a small settlement. I could even see these as being attack beasts in the employ of a sentient bug race - like the Rebel Manth or Highlander Studios Space Bugs.

ArtCrime Productions will be releasing the Spartan Battle Tanks this Wednesday, March 13.

Available in tracked (Spartan-T) and hover (Spartan-H) configurations, the Spartan promises to be 78 tons of mobile destruction. In the Valkyrie universe, the Spartan is used by both the Nationalists and the Federalist factions of humanity. And it would look great alongside many other figure ranges, too. The tracked version especially has that near-future appearance desired by so many 15mm SF gamers.

I have to admit that I fancied getting some 15mm.co.uk's HOF range Grey Aliens for some time. You can't help but fall for their tongue-in-cheek 1950-60's 'B' Movie charm.

ASQL 100 Point Grey Alien Army

Tuesday evening, I decided to take up 15mm.co.uk's offer of FREE samples, click here for more detail. But, to make the flat rate postage even more worthwhile, I went for the ASL10: 100 Point Alien Squad Leader (ASQL) Grey Alien pack, together with a blister of HOF56: Human Cultists.

My reasoning was, well if I'm going for movie inspired miniatures, one of my all time favourite films is THE OMEGA MAN with Charlton Heston (1971). The Cultist miniatures remind me of the movie and so will become the denizens of my post apocalyptic urban (and/or Martian desert) terrain and at the very least pop up in my Sci Fi 1-2-1 character skirmish games.

At the end of this week, it was great to find a package from 15mm.co.uk waiting for me when I got home from work this evening. 48 hour turn around - not shabby at all! Means I can be confident that if I place an order at the beginning of the week, of receiving it in time to work on the project that same weekend.

The Grey Aliens are everything I expected of them with one exception. The Saucer. It's bloody marvellous! The photos simply don't do it justice! The same could be said for the Cultists who are again, very nice miniatures - and I am bearing in mind Leutenant Brittan's clever paint job on them, over on the Farpoint Salvage blog.

Full review of both products as time permits in the coming week together with a full step by step guide to painting and basing the Grey Aliens as a self-contained project for next weekend.
