Loud Ninja Games - New Post-Apocalyptic Releases

Wasteland Raiders, Rad Zombies & Road Wardens Released by Loud Ninja Games

Hey all,

January brings out three new packs of figures for post-apocalyptic/horror gaming. Sculpted by me (Eli Arndt), I have tried to bring to life some popular themes found in the genre - hoeroic justice fighters, disgusting shamblers and wild raiders. I'm hope you will recognize some familiar characters in this batch as well as find some new personalities and creatures to capture your imaginations.

Thanks for checking out Loud Ninja Games and here is Gavin with the official release info...

Loud Ninja Games headed up by designer Eli Arndt have released three new 15mm packs into the part of the range Wasteland and Mutants on their page at 15mm.co.uk. They join, not only the other packs in that part of the range, but of course the Alien Encounters, Ikwen, Yandrassi and the Chuhuac with over 30 codes into total! Go here, for the whole range and you can refine by search for only Wasteland packs if you wish.

The three new packs are excellent for present day gangers, post apocalypse raiders, near future hunters, and most anything else that needs weird and wonderful in 15mm scale. Highly detailed white-metal miniatures sculpted by Eli Arndt. Here are the details.

RAP030 – Road Wardens
This pack contains three different highly detailed 15mm scale white-metal humans with pistols and a rifle all wearing light armor. Even in the wastes, there are those who cannot abide evil. These brave men and women take up arms in the name of something more than simple survival and take to the roads dispensing justice. They are known by many titles but often go by a more classical, romantic title – Road Warden. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

RAP031 – Rad Zombies
This pack contains five different 15mm scale white-metal radioactive zombies in various poses. Exposed bones, melting flesh and grinning skulls, these are scary foes! In the wastelands and the ruins of the old world, there are those who have been so changed that even after death they continue to menace the living. Whether it is through strange energies, chemical cocktail or mutant virus, Rad Zombies now roam where man once dwelt seeking to feed their insatiable hunger. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

RAP032 – Wasteland Raiders
This pack contains nine different 15mm scale white humans in various poses. Crude weapons, scavenged firearms, punk style hair, rough clothing, these are the guys that haunt the innocent in a nightmare future. In the shadow of the world before, there are those who are so intent on survival that they leave behind all pretence of civility and community, choosing instead to make their fellow man their prey upon which they sustain themselves. Those who take to this life live as bandits, raiders, and much worse, banding together to use might to make their living as Wasteland Raiders. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

These new packs go excellently with the fearsome Terrorclops and the helpful Wasteland Buddies as well as the not pictured here Mutants and Super Mutants in the range. RAP028 and RAP029 sculpted by Eli Arndt and painted here by Sam Croes. Enjoy!

From The Wasteland Lumbers...

Terrorclops and Wasteland Buddies released by Loud Ninja Games!

Hey all,

I sit here in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day  here in the U.S. presenting, to you all, the two newest additions to my post-apocalyptic miniatures range. While my first two packs presented human-sized mutants of the gang or tribal sort, these two new figures represent a move toward larger miniatures -

RAP028 Terrorclops (1) 5.00 GBP  is a huge mutant monster, the sort of thing that adventurers in the aftermath would encounter and overcome. I sculpted him to be monstrous and twisted have his anatomy rearranged so that his mouth is in his gut with a single eye taking up his whole face. He is armored on the back and armed with a wicked spike where a fist would be, perfect for piercing prey and feeding them to his gut maw.

RAP029 Wasteland Buddies (1) 3.00 GBP brings to you a paired up team of wastelanders. A human-sized survivor rides  atop a massive humanoid used as both companion and beast of burden. Festooned with gear the large mutant packs a a club made from a piece of an old lamp post, the concrete anchor providing a sturdy club. The smaller companion carries a long rifle for hunting and protection.

The are produced and sold across the world through our partnership with the excellent folks at 15mm.co.uk. For additional information these and other product from Loud Ninja Games and/or 15mm.co.uk read HERE.

Adriana's Last Stand

.
A quick shot of how my 15mm wasteland terrain is shaping up.

15mm Post Apocalypse Wasteland Outpost
& 'Adriana' (
ZH001 from The Scene)

Being the May Bank Holiday weekend - the emphasis of yesterday, today and tomorrow is definitely family orientated. So work on the wasteland terrain (all gaming) has come to a virtual standstill - but the wasteland terrain bases ground work has been painted and they are ready to throw on the table right now if I wanted- I'll catch up with the final detailing, rusting/weathering as and when during the week.

UPDATE:

If you feel suitably inspired, the van and cars in total came to around 40p, the oil drums are 10 for £1.50, the pipes are simply two straws picked up at Costa Coffee and CD from an old PC magazine. Including Polyfilla (spackle), glue and paint this terrain piece probably comes in around £1. Add liberal GW Washes, call it £1.50 all in.

Getting Rusty!

.
Began spraying my 15mm wasteland terrain. It was a beautiful morning first thing - took my stuff outside to spray - and the moment I was ready, the wind picked up!

Nevertheless, you can see an encouraging example of the results from the first coat below.

Wasteland Outpost - Rusty WIP

The Krylon Matt Warm Aubegine has worked out really well - available from Hobbycraft for just £4.99.

I like the colour and as there will be plenty left am seriously considering using it as part of a two-tone scheme on some of my Sci Fi armour.

I intend giving the terrain bases another coat of Warm Aubergine in a short while before applying some dark washes of GW Devlan Mud, artist acrylic Burnt Umber. The rust effect will be created with artist acrylics Mars Orange.

TIP: Cheap & effective turntable
from a styrene Pizza packaging base

Update:

I'm very impressed by the even and smooth finish of the Krylon spray. The instructions on the can recommended spraying from 25cm, but I found the coverage was too light, so held the can much closer with no adverse effects. I tell you, I'd paint all my tanks with this stuff if possible!

Wasteland Terrain WIP: Almost there!

.
Finally ready to paint my wasteland terrain tomorrow.

Wasteland Outpost WIP

For my groundwork, I wanted to create the impression of cars and pipes buried in the earth with sand/dirt collected by the wind building up between them. I use a premixed 'flexible' Polyfilla combined with a small amount of PVA glue. This makes the Polyfilla very creamy and easy to spread but will also improve adhesion and final resilience to handling.

Once set, I spread a liberal coat of PVA over the bare Polyfilla, placing the rocks where I want them before shaking on the sand. I tend to push the sand down into the PVA with my fingers to ensure a good hold. When dry, I turn the piece over and tap the bottom to remove any loose sand/rocks. Finally, I water down PVA (50-50) before washing it over the sand and rocks with a 1" or 2" emulsion brush. This final coat not only holds everything together but provides a sound surface for taking paint. Then leave this overnight to dry out.

I bought a can of Krylon Warm Aubegine - a dark brick red-brown - matt spray paint to prime/basecoat the vehicles and metalwork on the bases. I thought it would be a decent base colour for drybrushing various brown and orange shades of rust.

Wasteland Terrain WIP: Progress Report

.
Just a progress update on my 15mm post apocalypse wasteland scatter terrain.

Wasteland Outpost

Abandoned Car

Crushed Car Wall

I had originally intended to give the Wasteland Outpost and Abandoned Car much more in the way of fine detail, but I thought to myself "No Mark, this is 15mm - just finish off and get them on the table".

I'm certain that once painted and with some scrub and desert grasses added, they'll look great and I expect to have them finished by the weekend. The oil drums you can see are from The Scene. I have a couple of stand alone bases of these drums on the workbench which will provide additional scatter cover and/or 'spawning' points for zombies, bugs, bad guys etc.

One thing I'm annoyed about, is that for years I had this pack of 'signs' kicking about from Peter Pig's Wild West range - it included a signpost with a buzzard sitting on it - perfect for the Abandoned Car or generic scatter terrain - but can I find it when I need it? No! Grrrrr!

That's dried river bed, scatter terrain, trees......

Trees = cuttings from the garden

Now, all I need is a typical Route 666 gas station and diner.......

Zombie Hunter / Survivalist WIP

.
A new hero emerges victorious from the toxic crater!

Couldn't resist. Cleared away all the half built/painted terrain from the workbench to do this Zombie Hunter / Survivalist from The Scene!

The Scene UK 15mm Sci Fi
ZH002 Zombie Hunter / Survivalist: 40p

There's a bit of the Charlton Heston about him!

Very much WIP. Yes, that PVA glue is only just applied and his Daz white T-shirt needs to be grubbed up some more.

Still not finished but I had to take a photo as
the sun went down for that post apocalypse glow!

Mudd Eisley Patrol - Wasteland Dried Riverbed

.
Sunday morning I finished the dried wasteland/desert riverbed I've been working on during the week and I'm really chuffed with the result!

Infiltrating Mudd Eisley from the Dunes
An Atreides patrol in captured Harkonnen uniforms

The riverbed was created utilising Amera Plastic Moulding Straight River Sections (#F216) , building up the textures with different grades of sand and talus. Foilage is Woodland Scenics #L166 'Natural' Lichen.

In all about an hour's work per river section from start to finish, but allowing loads of drying time in between each step before a final watered down coat of PVA prior to painting. Which is why it took several nights in total.

The river sections have been painted to match my OOP GW sulphur desert battlemat using Homebase 'Pecan' emulsion as a base followed by 'splodging' GW Gryphone Sepia with an old No.6 brush.

Jungle stream using these Amera river sections next!

Scatter Terrain: Wasteland Crater

This dramatic Wasteland Crater is one of my favourite terrain pieces.

I bought several sets of craters from Amera Plastic Mouldings 'Future Zone' for my lunar landscape and couldn't resist adding a couple to my wasteland terrain. Nominally 28mm, these craters are excellent for 15mm and great value for money. I thoroughly recommend them.

The crater you see is made from the Z201 Crater Set on a 3mm MDF base (approx 9"x6"). MDF is both a joy and a curse to work with. I found that you can cut through 3mm MDF using a sharp Stanley knife with a bit of force behind it. For straight lines it's even simpler, run your Stanley along a steel ruler and then move the 'cut' to your workbench edge and simply 'snap' along the join for a clean cut (mostly). Edges can quickly and easily be tidied up with a sanding block.

The 'rocks' are chips of 'Scottish Red' gravel from the garden. The trees are twigs taken from a dead Lavendar plant which Heather over pruned last year. This Lavendar plant lives on as a series of wasteland trees in 15mm and a 28mm Sci Fi/Fantasy Forest of Doom! Recommend you plant a couple in your garden as a renewable source of wargames terrain!

The trees were stuck in place using the granite/marble epoxy cement I've mentioned in the past. The rest of the groundwork is once again, sharp sand available from any builders merchants.

I used matt terracotta household emulsion to coat everything bar the rocks and the trees. The terracotta picks out the accent colour in my desert playing surface but also has that reddish Martain landscape feel to it.

A very weak wash of Citadel Devlan Mud was applied to the base and rocks with darker coats built up on the crater itself, especially the interior. I lightly dry-sponged terracotta back over the lip and exterior of the crater, followed by the lightest of touches with a drybrush of 'stone'. Don't worry about mistakes, additional applications of Devlan Mud can hide or mute down the most cack-handed attempts at drybrushing. I speak from experience!

Finally, the sand and rocks had an equally light drybrush of a lighter sandy 'pebble' colour.

Originally, I had intended to create a yellow or brown pool inside the crater but liked the way it looked as it was, so decided to stop there. I can always go back at a later stage and do this with tinted varnish if the fancy takes me.

This terrain piece was done as a batch along with two similar craters, the whole project being completed in about an hour. Helped along by placing the craters in direct sunlight on a demi-pallet in the garden to speed up drying the PVA and again once I applied the terracotta paint.

Hope this encourages you to have a go!

Cheers
