Here is a bit of video describing a technique I am using for a very inexpensive terrain project.

Preview: Reworked...Xiangyu WZ993 APC Armies Army
From: TheMiniaturesPage.com
WIP
The Xiangyu WZ993 APC
I've reworked the original ‘print' ( it was still great) and provided a few new turret options. The original had some design flaws that were not that great when cast in resin. I had a very thin lip rim to the body, which looked nice was really fragile and easy to break. It just wasn't robust enough. I also created open hatches, rather then solid, which I think is nicer. So….I'm about to send this for reprinting, soon as I've made it watertight and the weapons are good.
This is the APC variant, which will carry two of the PLA infantry drones on it tops rear frame. They release when the troops disembark. Carries two fire teams of four men.
The second is the Zheng WZ994 MGS
Fully modular with a replacement Heavy Anti Matter Tank Gun
No date for readiness. I've three vehicles in front of the queue, however they are almost ready for ordering. I've a rather splendid painter working on two of them as we speak and some Russian ‘whites' Infantry which were going to be dropped of at the production mold makers this evening…however work has just cancelled that!
Hopefully tomorrow!
Feedback welcome
p.s
for those that liked the original turret..Ill still offer that to. Its currently used as part of heavy gun drones :)
thanks

First Froggie Off The Production Line...........
Not quite the Frogstar Troopers I'd planned for this week but sometimes you've got to just go with the creative flow..... mais "Non, je ne regrette rien" so here is "Mon Légionnaire".
Only 20 odd hard bitten 'Fighting Cockerels' to go!

In the Pipe......Critical Mass Games NEW Sci Fi Armour
.
Critical Mass Games are releasing some exciting new 15mm Sci Fi armour to support their newly released 15mm Kaamados Dominion range. Here is a preview of the 3D renders
I like these models a lot. The APC is rugged and purposeful - you can 'see' it at work on inhospitable worlds. The tank is pure HALO and as for the Scout Cars ..... I think they can be used in any future wasteland/post apoc setting as well! Imagine 3 of them as desert raiders.
These new models give me new focus for building and painting my armies over the coming months, where the successors of great houses are at war for control of a Tatooine/Dune'esque desert planet.
The Harkonnens battle force will have GZG's latest Rommel III hover gun-tanks and the Atreides/Antigonid faction will oppose them with the new Critical Mass Kamaados Heavy Tanks. Mercenary and alien cannon fodder abound. Gunships roar overhead and bots will secure the flanks.
Those Scout Cars, mmmm? Sahadeen raiders allied to no side but always ready to pick off the stragglers.
Speaking to Craig last night, the Kamaados armour should be available in July/August, which suits my pocket fine. Pop over to the Critical Mass Game Forum for more pics and updates.
Cheers

Wasteland Terrain WIP: Progress Report
.
Just a progress update on my 15mm post apocalypse wasteland scatter terrain.
Crushed Car Wall
Just a progress update on my 15mm post apocalypse wasteland scatter terrain.
Crushed Car WallI had originally intended to give the Wasteland Outpost and Abandoned Car much more in the way of fine detail, but I thought to myself "No Mark, this is 15mm - just finish off and get them on the table".
I'm certain that once painted and with some scrub and desert grasses added, they'll look great and I expect to have them finished by the weekend. The oil drums you can see are from The Scene. I have a couple of stand alone bases of these drums on the workbench which will provide additional scatter cover and/or 'spawning' points for zombies, bugs, bad guys etc.
One thing I'm annoyed about, is that for years I had this pack of 'signs' kicking about from Peter Pig's Wild West range - it included a signpost with a buzzard sitting on it - perfect for the Abandoned Car or generic scatter terrain - but can I find it when I need it? No! Grrrrr!
That's dried river bed, scatter terrain, trees......
Now, all I need is a typical Route 666 gas station and diner.......
Cheers

Critical Mass Games - New Mercs On The Block
.
There's more alien scum heading for the streets and bars of Mudd Eisley......

These greens are very much WIP and so new that Craig and Dale haven't had a chance to name the different aliens.... so to celebrate a year of blogging, Dropship Horizon is giving you the opportunity to:
"Look, do the right thing. Give yerself a break, gain a little immortality even. It's not snitchin'. We knows they's Mercs. All we are askin' is that you tell us who these fellas are and where they came from. That's not too much to ask...."
More details tomorrow night - Critical Mass Games have a busy release schedule throughout the Spring. Craig can't set any promises but is confident the new Mercs will be out before June.
Cheers

Latest Intel......Space Doggies, Gangsta Style!
.
Lois could see these Mercs were fresh from the kill. They had entered the Bar & Grill accompanied by an almost physical aura of being tired and hungry. Regardless of Ray, and his constant impassioned pleas for portion control, she made sure that as each Merc barked his order at her, she chose the biggest and best steaks to put on the grill.
CanArvR just wanted to sit, wolf down his food and chew the fat with his pack before catching well earned zeds. Maybe it was the way the human was looking at him, maybe it was something he said to one of the other humans - it was immaterial - in a flash the tables were turned over, plasma bolts of many hues sizzled the air.......
Exclusive to Dropship Horizon, I'm pleased to be able to share the latest WIP from Critical Mass Games, Protelene Khanate 'Hunters'...

Fantastic. Sorry Craig, they may not be meant to be Vargr but these guys are going to be my Reservoir Space Doggies. I particularly love the figures (top) 2nd from left, 2nd from right, (Bottom) 2nd left and far right.
Cheers

PREVIEW Critical Mass Games: Augmented Drop Troopers
.
When the sitreps are critical. When the chips are down and there's no time to bleed, the meanest, badass hombres the Arc Fleet can call upon are the Augmented Drop Troopers.
Where space is at a premium to bring heavier firepower to bear, the Augmented Foot Trooper deploying shoulder mounted weapons provides a significant local force multiplier to the commander on the spot.
In size and bulk, the Augmented Drop and Foot Troopers are necessarily larger than their brother troopers in the Arc Fleet being the equivalent of Power Armoured infantry. You can see a good idea of the comparison sizes in the chart below:
There will be two packs of Arc Fleet Augmented Troops, codes AFAU1 & AFAU2 in the first release from Critical Mass Games planned for the end of August 2009. Each pack will contain two each of three different miniatures.
My thanks to Craig at CMG for sharing these concept images of his 15mm Sci Fi Arc Fleet range. I hope to be able to post photos of WIP on the greens later in the week.
Cheers

Critical Mass Games - ARC Fleet WIP
.
Craig of Critical Mass Games has sent me concept artwork and work in progress (WIP) photos of the human ARC Fleet troopers to share with you.

Click on the pciture for a bigger image and you will see the basic human trooper types. L-R: Light Recon, Rifle Infantry, Heavy Infantry, Augmented Drop Trooper and Augmented Foot Trooper.
These greens, mid-sculpt, clearly shows the level of detail we can expect from these miniatures. Below is the concept art for the ARC Fleet troopers smallarms.

The sculptor appears to have done a great job interpreting the concept pictures into 15mm scale weapons. I particularly like that Heavy Gauss Carbine.
If I picked it up correctly, the figure ranges will be released in waves. The first being the Human ARC Fleet. Initially the figures will be available in packs with 8 minis of 3 different sculpts - 'Peter Pig style'. Don't worry about there only being a 'boring' number of poses - there are more than 20 different ARC Fleet sculpts.
Craig will confirm pack details and codes over the coming days and I'll keep you updated on the first and any future releases. Together with photos of WIP and cast miniatures as they become available.
Cheers
Mark
