Looking for Hobby Content
By Eli
For some time here, we here in the cockpit have been discussing how to increase the amount of hobby content found here. Dropship Horizon has always been a source of hobby news but it has also been a place for interesting projects, AARs and other hobby related posts. Much of this has diminished over time due to a number of reasons but the net result is that the blog has become, admittedly, a bit stagnate.
To remedy this, we are looking for folks who would like to submit their own articles relevant to the 15mm Sci-fi hobby or who would give us permission to pull content from their blogs, websites and other posts to share on DSH. Any such content would be given a by line and would have links to all included content as well as associated web content (company sites, referenced materials, etc).
In the end, the goal will be to make this blog as much of a one-stop spot for what's up in the 15mm Sci-fi hobby as possible. It may mean there will be some repetition of content between this and other blogs. This should be fine as for many this is THE blog they visit (or have visited) for this sort of content and would expose them to other content they might normally see. It would also allow this blog to work as a sort of aggregator and focal point to raise overall awareness and interest in the hobby.
So, if you feel you have something everyone should see or would like to volunteer your site as a source of material for this blog, then please comment here and provide a link to your site and any special concerns, requests, or considerations for your inclusion.
Thank you,
-Eli
Great idea Eli. You know that you guys on the Dropship crew have permission to access my blog for hobby related material

I'm getting ready to start some new 15mm modelling projects, starting with some Khurasan kits, also prepping for a major modular terrain board project.
If my stuff dealing with Zamazonia and Possum Corners might encourage and entertain some modeler-gamers, feel free to use it. It is an eclectic universe that I oversee, with great difficulty. The characters of this world have a very strong union!

Round Up posts, ideas posts, gaming universe posts, modelling articles, fiction articles, competitions, appeals to manufacturers for Dropship Discounts, Guest posts, Adapting film plots to scenarios for systems. A few ideas off the top of my head.
ReplyDeleteDropship Horizon has permission to lift what it wants from my own efforts at the Ion Age blog.

Eli,
ReplyDeleteThis is great news. You may remember (or not) I was very critical of the direction of travel for this site of late. I first came here and found lots of ideas about a wide range of 15mm Sci Fi. You guys took it on to keep the 'Ship flying, I know, when otherwise it would have crashed and burned. It was always first and foremost (in my mind) a place where ranges could be announced, discussed, showcased. But also it could become a place to discuss ideas, scenarios, rules, things people are crying out to see produced. I cant offer a blog or stuff at the moment, but am happy to help out if I have anything to offer. But as an idea - what about a call out to as many 15mm Sci fi manufacturers to send you updates on what they are up to/plan/are considering developing with a promise of a posting of it? The more traffic of that sort, the more vibrant the site will become drawing in (as well as bringing back) more and more 15mm Sci Fi Gamers.
If I happen to post anything interesting your more than welcome to share it around :)

Feel free to use any material you found on Assault Publishing page (www.assaultpublishing.com). Maybe the page is not the typical blog and it's focused on rather AP activity I plan to put there some hobby articles (such like AAR or painting tips) someday.

Hi Eli,
ReplyDeleteWow I wanted to write something for you but it involved a 15mm.co.uk "terminus" scenario. They used to be at Barking Irons which is now a dead feed......any Idea on how to get a copy of those?
You might want to email Gavin at the 15mm.co.uk Blog about this.
Deletethanks.
DeleteYou know it's Dropship Horizon that got me into 15mm sci fi anyway. I would still like to contribute if I can.
I'm happy for anything on my blog to find its way to a larger audience...
