Im trying to slowly building an Ambush Alley collection so I can run the game and I have to say that Rebel Mini makes some fantastic title little people.
Perhaps its just me but the PP weapons look all to similar, the UGL stands out but the box mag on the SAW could be bigger - i keep asking myself which are the SAW gunners. also the command figs are a bit darcy bussel; no actually just boring - but we've done that some time ago
My PPs make good Galactica Marines if painted black kit. which is in turn a good undercoat for am iraqi look
I've found some of the Rebel Minis to be a bit of a mixed bag. Some are fantastically detailed (Earthforce Marines, military contractors etc.) but others are pretty poor (SAS, LA SWAT team), with unidentifiable weapons and poor detailing. Or perhaps those ones were just nearing the end of their mould life... I must get some PP figures soon! I have a project in mind which will need some late WWII germans.
Paul, different sculptors. Some of his earlier figures are a bit crude. His Martin Baker figures are excellent. As his company has grown and improved, so have his minis improved. Mike is a great fellow!
Oddly enough, I've found the Rebel Miniatures US Infantry to be a more or less suitable stand-in for Canadians(the scoped M16's look like C7's). As such, I'm painting mine in CADPAT and trying to figure out what to do for anti-tank options and vehicles.
I had also noticed that several of the Rebel minis items were poor quality. Just got a pack of their "Home Guard" (Formerly 'soft cover' marines I think.) and a pack of their KSK troopers. The KSK were some of the worst looking minis I've ever bought. I had poorly cast battlefront troops that looked better.
Which do you prefer Mark?
ReplyDeleteThey look like a good match to me.
ReplyDeleteHi Phil
ReplyDeleteAs Mid-tech Sci Fi infantry to go head to head with my RAFM Mid-tech, definitely the Rebel Minis.
Cheers
Mark

ReplyDeleteInteresting, from the front the rebel looks much nicer, but from the side the PP does.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile I'd never use moderns for sci fi, unless it was set in contemporary times of course.
RBS
Why not RBS ?
ReplyDeleteIts similar to American or British soldiers fighting afghans or Iraquis in term of technological gap.
Awuuuu

They look close enough to me. Might even mix them on the same stand!
