Yes! Bloody ouch! I've joined the list of victims of the recent coldsnap - twisting my ankle on an icy cobbled street whilst walking in to work. There was a very audible "CRACK", leaving me with an extended tendon and a torn nerve. Greeeeaaat! The pain is, let's say, distracting.
Never mind. All put behind me by the arrival of some beautiful 15mm early medieval Swiss from Khurasan Miniatures. I have a love for medieval Swiss. Back in my early twenties, I Inter-railed Switzerland, Austria and Southern Germany, visiting museums, armouries and battlefields. And these 15mm swiss are a fun reminder of those days.
The miniatures themselves are beautiful. Much, much better than the photos on the website suggest. Standing 16mm sole to eye - that's around 18mm to top of head. In the 'flesh' so to speak, they have a hunkered down 'determined' look about them. Possibly the best medieval miniatures of any type on the market today. It will be a pleasure to paint this army, if that is, I can get past the pain of straightening up every single pike and halberd shaft, as they arrived looking like curly French Fries!
Tough week at work for both Master Chef and myself. We both seprately found ourselves using retail therapy to get over the work blues.
My latest order from GZG dropped through the temporal wormhole this morning. NAC Marines, Cyclops heavy battlesuits with heavy weapons, six packs of the newly released Zod Commandos plus some of the equally new crates/containers.
The NAC will receive some headswops to become a ragged company of Mercs/Rebels. The Cyclops heavy battlesuits are to fill out a Future US Marine Corps TOE for Tom.War. The Zods, well, I'm planning to test one pack in desert camo. Another in a more tradional Sci Fi scheme. Red bodies with white helmets and black visors, to replicate some of my favourite Garrsion 25mm Sci Fi minis from the 1970's.
There are some new actively posed armoured Sci Fi Marines on the horizon from one of our favourite 15mm Sci Fi manufacturers. They will blow you away - Each figure comes with pulse rifle, flamethrower and missile options. I've 'pre-ordered' six packs on the strength of the WIP greens.
Keep an eye on The Scene UK website over the coming few days. Master Chef was chatting with Mike, who divulged that 3 new Urban Warriors would be available for sale, including a sniper/shotgun, a figure showing a badge and a 15mm 'Dana Scully' looklikee.
Have a good weekend!
Cheers
Mark
