Loud Ninja Games - New Post-Apocalyptic Releases

Wasteland Raiders, Rad Zombies & Road Wardens Released by Loud Ninja Games

Hey all,

January brings out three new packs of figures for post-apocalyptic/horror gaming. Sculpted by me (Eli Arndt), I have tried to bring to life some popular themes found in the genre - hoeroic justice fighters, disgusting shamblers and wild raiders. I'm hope you will recognize some familiar characters in this batch as well as find some new personalities and creatures to capture your imaginations.

Thanks for checking out Loud Ninja Games and here is Gavin with the official release info...

Loud Ninja Games headed up by designer Eli Arndt have released three new 15mm packs into the part of the range Wasteland and Mutants on their page at 15mm.co.uk. They join, not only the other packs in that part of the range, but of course the Alien Encounters, Ikwen, Yandrassi and the Chuhuac with over 30 codes into total! Go here, for the whole range and you can refine by search for only Wasteland packs if you wish.

The three new packs are excellent for present day gangers, post apocalypse raiders, near future hunters, and most anything else that needs weird and wonderful in 15mm scale. Highly detailed white-metal miniatures sculpted by Eli Arndt. Here are the details.

RAP030 – Road Wardens
This pack contains three different highly detailed 15mm scale white-metal humans with pistols and a rifle all wearing light armor. Even in the wastes, there are those who cannot abide evil. These brave men and women take up arms in the name of something more than simple survival and take to the roads dispensing justice. They are known by many titles but often go by a more classical, romantic title – Road Warden. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

RAP031 – Rad Zombies
This pack contains five different 15mm scale white-metal radioactive zombies in various poses. Exposed bones, melting flesh and grinning skulls, these are scary foes! In the wastelands and the ruins of the old world, there are those who have been so changed that even after death they continue to menace the living. Whether it is through strange energies, chemical cocktail or mutant virus, Rad Zombies now roam where man once dwelt seeking to feed their insatiable hunger. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

RAP032 – Wasteland Raiders
This pack contains nine different 15mm scale white humans in various poses. Crude weapons, scavenged firearms, punk style hair, rough clothing, these are the guys that haunt the innocent in a nightmare future. In the shadow of the world before, there are those who are so intent on survival that they leave behind all pretence of civility and community, choosing instead to make their fellow man their prey upon which they sustain themselves. Those who take to this life live as bandits, raiders, and much worse, banding together to use might to make their living as Wasteland Raiders. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

These new packs go excellently with the fearsome Terrorclops and the helpful Wasteland Buddies as well as the not pictured here Mutants and Super Mutants in the range. RAP028 and RAP029 sculpted by Eli Arndt and painted here by Sam Croes. Enjoy!

Thanks for Reading!

From The Wasteland Lumbers...

Terrorclops and Wasteland Buddies released by Loud Ninja Games!

Hey all,

I sit here in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day  here in the U.S. presenting, to you all, the two newest additions to my post-apocalyptic miniatures range. While my first two packs presented human-sized mutants of the gang or tribal sort, these two new figures represent a move toward larger miniatures -

RAP028 Terrorclops (1) 5.00 GBP  is a huge mutant monster, the sort of thing that adventurers in the aftermath would encounter and overcome. I sculpted him to be monstrous and twisted have his anatomy rearranged so that his mouth is in his gut with a single eye taking up his whole face. He is armored on the back and armed with a wicked spike where a fist would be, perfect for piercing prey and feeding them to his gut maw.

RAP029 Wasteland Buddies (1) 3.00 GBP brings to you a paired up team of wastelanders. A human-sized survivor rides  atop a massive humanoid used as both companion and beast of burden. Festooned with gear the large mutant packs a a club made from a piece of an old lamp post, the concrete anchor providing a sturdy club. The smaller companion carries a long rifle for hunting and protection.

The are produced and sold across the world through our partnership with the excellent folks at 15mm.co.uk. For additional information these and other product from Loud Ninja Games and/or 15mm.co.uk read HERE.

Getting a Little More Wasted

New Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland Miniatures From 15mm.co.uk

HOF20 Post Apocalyptic Warriors II

HOF21 Post Apocalyptic Assault

The above two packs are now added to the range of post-apocalyptic miniatures offered by 15mm.co.uk. Expanding on the theme of ragged, warrior survivalists, these miniatures depict shabbily clad humans in various sorts of head gear wielding rifles, pistols and blades. They are not overly encumbered and are kept just general enough that they could be inserted into a number of possible settings from their intended use to raiders of the space ways or even urban savages.

New Watercraft, Street Furniture and Steampunk Adventurers

By Chris

Some new releases for the week. First, The Scene added  seven new items to the Water Craft range. It's a nice little variety - a landing craft, an empty barge, a junker, some fan-driven swamp boats, and a few enclosed river boats that are just screaming "post apocalyptic pirates."

Mike promises even more additions to that range in the coming future - including hover and grav versions of several existing watercraft. It's definitely time to consider making a river or swamp table.. something for those GZG Crusties, Blue Moon Aquans, Khurasan Myzontids, or 15mm.Co.Uk Octopods to fight over.

*     *     *     *     *
Khurasan Minis has expanded the modern/future terrain range.

For street furniture, there are two vending machines (which are just begging to be painted as Slurm dispensers), some modern barrels (great for biohazardous waste), a street lamp, some really cool looking crates, a bench, and a street-sweeping robot.

On the starship/building interiors side, there is a control chair/station and bank of cryo pods:

These would be great additions to your chosen set of starship corridors and rooms, or inside laser-cut buildings from Mad Mecha Guy, CorSec Engineering, or GameCraft Minis

*     *     *     *     *

For all you VSF and Pulp gamers out there - Rebel Minis' first pack of Steampunk Adventurers is now available.

15mm will be a great scale for these types of games - these figures would work in the Wild West, crawling through Egyptian pyramids, or exploring islands filled with rogue dinosaurs. I could even see these figures finding a place in narrative Space Western campaign settings.

New Octopods, Wasteland Goons, SHM Creatures, and a Sale from 15mm.Co.Uk

15mm.Co.Uk has been busy this winter!

Earlier this week, three new figures were added to the SHM Range. First is the Criat Mercenary - described as strong and resilient creatures who will eat anything - even the flesh of their own kind. If you're looking for something a bit less conventional, we have the Biomorph - a 7mm-tall pile of genetically-engineered flesh, teeth, and claws. And if you really want a unique figure, the Jelly Cube might be just what you have in mind. While primarily intended for fantasy dungeon crawls, this 24mm-tall monstrosity would be equally at home on a derelict spacecraft or an abandoned colony.

Criat Mercenary, Biomorph, Jelly Cube (not remotely to scale!)
And today brings us expansions to two popular factions in the HOF Science Fiction range. The Wasteland Uber Goons, perfect for games like USE ME UM007 and Mutants & Death Ray Guns, receive a pack of Heavy Weapons. This mix of figures is armed with a fusion gun, a cool boxy-looking missile launcher, and a flamethrower - the true staple of any henchmen force.

HOT89 Octopod Assault Troops

The popular Octopods, not known for subtlety or finesse, have been reinforced by this pack of assault troops. They are armed with pistols and hack-and-slash weapons, and would make great mercenaries or auxiliaries even in non-Octopod armies.

HOF88 Octopod Jetbikes

But with all these foot-sloggers (or is that tentacle-sloggers?), it didn't seem like the Octopods can match the speed of other HOF forces like the Retained Knights and the Shia Khan. So they grabbed some surplus starfighter thrusters, bolted saddles to the top of them, and called them Jetbikes. These look like some of the fastest light vehicles to be found on the 15mm tabletop, and should be a lot of fun to paint.

To support these latest HOF releases, 15mm.Co.Uk has announced a 10% off sale on all Octpod and Wasteland Uber Goon packs. This offer is good through March 1st, and covers all codes in those ranges (not just the new releases).

Gavin has promised even more releases in the HOF Science Fiction range in the coming months. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Chris

Post Apocalyptic Warriors, Beasts, and Robots

All kinds of new releases this week.

Eleven items were released by The Scene today - they have promised 100 new items by November. The Wasteland Warriors range of post-apocalyptic mutants are reinforced with two different War Walkers.

Three new packs were added to the popular Heavy Battle Robots range, and will be very useful for everyone converting them into not-Space Marines. All three packs include separate arms - one pack is Heavy Weapons, another Hand Weapons/Guns, and finally Hand Weapons and Power Fists.

A new category has been added to The Scene's figure ranges - Alien Beasts. Three creatures are now available. And finally, two remastered buildings have been added to the Desert Dwellings range.

*     *     *     *     *

15mm.Co.Uk also has a variety of alien creatures - released under the SHM Range. Here are the Nessite and the Slurmite (the latter may have a fondness for highly addictive beverages):

And the furry Avarep Cobra (which might be a useful Ysalamiri for Star Wars games), along with the Galdor Burrower.

It's a nice little variety of creatures. I can imagine playing games where Nessites can appear out of water terrain, and Avarep Cobras can jump out of tree bases.

*     *     *     *     *

Splintered Light Minis is one of the finest producers of 15mm fantasy minis on the market. David's figures are always worth a look - many would be ideal primitives in mixed-technology games, and even hard SF gamers could put some of his beasts to use. While he's always had a couple packs of sci-fi minis (which don't resemble the crew of a famous smuggling vessel in any way...), David surprised everyone this week by unveiling an expansive post apocalptic range.

All four packs were inspired by the novel Through the Fury to the Dawn, which was written by David's brother-in-law. I hadn't heard of it until seeing these figures, and it's very tempting to pick up a book when I know there are perfect figures to wargame the setting. David released packs for Survivors (including the book's seven main characters), Zombies, Gangers, and Giant Ants.

And these figures certainly wouldn't be restricted to the setting within the book - they would mix extremely well with post-apocalyptic and horror figures from Rebel Minis, Highlander Studios, Khurasan, and the Wasteland Warriors mentioned above from The Scene.

Cheers,
Chris

Dominion Wastelands - a USE ME test game

The flock on my Dominion Wastelands terrain set had barely finished drying when I played my first game. :)

Game Preparation

Looking at the USE ME unit cards I had already made, I decided to throw in a few changes before the playtest.  In USE ME, Elan is a combined measure of the characters' morale, training, and experience. I had instinctively given the elite Expeditionary power armored troops the highest Elan stat (6). Thinking about my storyline, this just didn't fit. These troops have been in space, and had been training to fight a different enemy. Combining that background with the idea that Earth's terrain has been substantially changed, even the most elite Expeditionary troops should be at a disadvantaged.  So I lowered their Elan to 4 for this first game.

I also gave them an APC - a light vehicle with a 12" move and a vehicle automatic weapon.  Assuming the driver wasn't a member of the Elite cadre, I lowered its Elan to 3.

The Dominion troops received a slight bump to match the offset. I gave the standard troopers Elan 5 for this first game, and the larger battlesuit the highest Elan rating at 6.  A force of six troopers and one Battlesuit would be the Dominion forces in this battle. I figured this would represent a basic patrol force - locating deposits of the precious blue crystals and identifying any enclaves of human resistance.

Even with the modified stats, this didn't look very balanced.  I simply removed five of the Expeditionary troops and set up the game itself.  I kept the table mostly the same from my "work in progress" photos, simply removing the Armies Army troops from the settlement.  The Dominion forces deployed on either side of the lower-right hill, while the Expeditionary forces would enter on the gravel road (chosen by a coin toss).

The Battle

With their higher Elan ratings, the Dominion had the first chance to act. I simply advanced them toward the settlement, using the crystals as cover.  The Expeditionary APC entered from the left.  It moved into the settlement, deploying its passengers into the cover of the storage shack. The APC took a pot shot at the Dominion battlesuit, but only managed to kick up some loose gravel.

The Dominion forces acted quickly. While the troopers advanced from both the lower and right-hand sides of the board, the battlesuit fired upon the APC. Its armor proved too strong for the battlesuit. Even though it was partially covered by a wrecked armored vehicle, concentrated fire from the Expeditionary troopers (including their heavy weapon) managed to bring down the Battlesuit.  Meanwhile, the APC raced across the road to divide the Dominion troopers.

The delay was successful - only one of the trooper units managed to get within assault distance of the Expeditionary troopers. Despite their lack of experience, the Expeditionary force outnumbered and outgunnned the Dominion troopers, and had the advantage of both power armor and a defensive position.  All three aliens advancing from the lower edge were winged or struck.

During the next round, two of the Expeditionary troops broke cover to engage the second Dominion unit. They coordinated with their APC and set up a deadly crossfire. All three aliens were killed, with only a single human being winged.

By now the Dominion had completely failed in its mission. They attempted to close in and use their superior close combat abilities, but still couldn't do significant damage the Expeditionary power armor. The two flanking Expeditionary troopers returned to the melee, but the fight was already over.

Mission Debriefing

The game was far more lopsided than I predicted - the USE ME rules are very robust and playable. The downside?  They realistically favor an entrenched defender over an equivalent attacker!  But it gave me a chance to see how I want to run these characters as I develop the Dominion Wastelands campaign.
  • Dominion Troopers.  They had normal Infantry Small Arms, and I just don't think it works for the Critical Mass Kaamados Vivipara figures. I'm going to change them to the Flamethrower rules found in the USE ME Post Apocalypse book.
  • Dominion Battlesuit.  Very underwhelming performance from an excellent Kaamados Draco battlesuit. I'm going to try upgrading them from Armored Infantry to an unarmored Light Vehicle, just to see if that makes a significant difference.
  • Expeditionary Elites.  Going to upgrade them to Elan 5, but use them only sparingly. In future skirmishes, there may only be one or two of these power-armored figures leading a fireteam of normal Expeditionary grunts.
  • Expeditionary APC.  It delivered what it promised!
I definitely enjoyed having USE ME as the framework.  But I may not be using it at its full capability. Omer Golan included some really neat ideas in the Post Apocalypse section - specifically using Toxic Pits.  I might find a way to utilize the Blue Crystals in-game; possibly doubling the optimal range or adding +1 penetration to Dominion figures in base contact.  That would certainly change the strategy for both forces!

Cheers,
Chris

Post-Apoc Raiders from Rebel Minis

Rebel Minis added a pack of Post Apoc Raiders to their lineup today.

Painted by Jeff Racel
These figures are sold in 5-packs for $4.99.  They are obviously great minis for games such as After The Horsemen by Two Hour Wargames or USE ME Post Apoc by 15mm.Co.Uk.  Also, Thaddeus of Brock on TMP pointed out that these would be great Browncoats for a certain popular Space Western universe (or any similar colonial setting you may have created).

See more pictures at Jeff Racel's Skydrive.

15mm Not-Invid Invasion - Concept To Battlefield

I've made some progress on my 15mm Sci Fi interpretation of the Invid Invasion storyline.  Most of it is planning and shopping lists, but I do have a few figures selected and ready for early games.

Terrain

This will closely match the series that inspired my games.  I plan to make a small (2' x 2' or 2' x 3') table with some kind of dead grass/scrub appearance - this will represent most of the North American interior.  I envision most of the farmland to be long gone, and wind/acid rain erosion has begun to cut away the hills and forests.  Basic styrofoam hills can be added to this tabletop - flocked with a dead grass color, and with random tufts of taller grasses and rocks scattered about.  A muddy river would also be a good addition to this terrain set.

Buildings will be a fun mix of styles.  Ruined urban battlefields certainly aren't out of the question, and are easily represented by my growing collection of Proxie Models goodies.  The few humans that are still free are probably hiding out away from the cities, forming refugee camps out of whatever they can find.  Once again, I already have the right models - GZG Shanties and Battle Works Studios' Startown Slums.  The only buildings that will take a bit of thought are the Dominion's structures.

The biggest difference between my setting and the original series - why did the aliens invade?  What are they looking for?  It was the Flower Of Life in the original Robotech story - a plant that was the basis of the Protoculture power source.  I'm going to change the story a bit here.  Instead of a flower, the Dominion has invaded Earth to harvest some mysterious crystals that appeared after the previous war.  I've had my eye on these Gale Force Nine crystal battlefield sets for awhile now - one set of these will give me enough crystals for a few different setups.

Rules

This wasn't a tough choice.  I want to play an assortment of small games in this setting, maybe 10-25 figures and a vehicle or two per side.  The setting itself will be a blasted, post-invasion Earth, with some alien elements introduced to our ecosystem.  USE ME UM007 Post Apocalyptic, reviewed here, is the perfect ruleset for this setting.  It gives plenty of room to customize figures and vehicles along with some rules for hostile environments.

The Dominion Occupiers

I've decided to go with Critical Mass Games' Kaamados Dominion as the alien invaders.  I'm simply calling them the Dominion for now - no reason to start completely from scratch.

The rank-and-file troopers of the Dominion will be the Vivipara figures.  These are numerous but tough, and used for all manner of basic military roles.  In scenario terms, these are the figures most likely to be needed for routine patrols, leading attacks upon human survivor camps, and supervising human workers at the crystal mines.  Here's what I came up with for game stats:

These Dominion Warriors will be led by more powerful Battlesuits.  The Kaamados Draco Aganath Imperator will fill this role.  I'll loosely follow the original storyline with these.  Warriors who have proven their worth to their masters may be mentally and physically "upgraded" to wear the battlesuits.

Those figures will handle most of my games.  I might need something a bit larger for special scenarios.  Ravenstar Studios' Ripper and Slasher drones would be great super-heavy support for the Kaamados figures.  Another possibility is the Mecha Arachnid from Blight Wheel Miniatures.

Earth Expeditionary Forces

In the Invid Invasion series, we see that the Robotech Expeditionary Force makes several (unsuccessful) attempts to recapture the Earth.  Since a 15mm game on a 2x2 table isn't going to benefit from 8" tall transforming jet mecha, I'm scaling my own Expeditionary force back a little bit.  The basic light infantry will be a combination of simple field-capped troopers.  I painted an RAFM Planetary Militia figure as a demo, but the GZG Colonial Militia will provide a better assortment of poses and weapons.

These basic infantry are augmented by armored jet-pack warriors - those receive the best training and equipment.  I finally have a use for my Blue Moon Orion Republic figures!

Both types of troopers will be supported by Brigade Models Eurofed hover tanks and transports.  There are some good mecha options if I want to pursue that route instead - my Rebel Minis Earthforce HAMR suits are already painted as a fairly close match.  ArtCrime Productions' Assault Valkyries also have a fitting appearance, and might be a better size for this type of game.

Human Resistance

It won't be tough to find a wide variety of human resistance fighters and liberated workers.  GZG Armed Colonists and Ravagers, RAFM Guerillas, Rebel Minis Post Apoc Survivalists... the list goes on.  I'm going to hold off making permanent cards for them for now.  Some interesting characters might develop after my first few games... I can just use the basic downloadable force roster until then.

Throw Some Dice

I can play a few early-invasion scenarios using figures and terrain that are already finished.  And when the weather clears up a bit more, I'll do another one of my weekend terrain projects to get the scrubland table and some scatter pieces built.  I'll keep posting updates as this setting progresses.

And a Bonus!

The unit cards that I've shown for USE ME, FUBAR, and Blasters & Bulkheads were all made using Microsoft PowerPoint.  I know Omer Golan already shared his Paint.Net version - and if you're comfortable with graphics programs, you should definitely use that one.  But I don't know a layer from a lasso tool.  So I work with what I can, and my cards seem to be well received..  So - I share them with you:

This is a blank version of the above USE ME cards.  The cards are 2.5"x3.5", and the pages are US Letter size.  If you have any basic knowledge of PowerPoint (or OpenOffice.Org Impress), you should have no problem altering the text, adding pictures, changing the background to a cool camo pattern, or whatever else you need to do.  Enjoy!

Cheers,
Chris

Review - USE ME Post Apocalyptic rules

Here's a detailed look at UM007 Post Apocalyptic - the latest volume in the USE ME series of rules from 15mm.co.uk.

PRINT EDITION

Available for £3.50
As with the other volumes in the series, UM007 packs everything you need to play into a 32-page A6 booklet.  It's an ideal size to throw in a small figure case.  I'm planning to make a portable gaming set using this book, a small baggie of dice and markers,  and two small forces with magnetic basing.  All of that would fit in an old VHS video box or a small Really Useful Box.

The book itself is has a great layout and is clearly written.  There are many clever little touches that you don't expect - like a list of recommended genre novels in the introduction.  The core rules are simple and effective.  If you aren't familiar with the USE ME system, it works by abstracting all of your minis (figures and vehicles) into generic "characters" types.  These types are defined by their size, armor level, weapons, and their Elan rating - an abstraction of their training, experience, and technology level.  USE ME claims to work with any miniature you own.  I have yet to prove them wrong!

What really sets this title apart from the rest of the series are the advanced rules.  Author O.G. Joel included a number of advanced rules from other USE ME titles (Flamethrowers, Energy Shields, Snipers) along with a nice variety of unique concepts (Scavenged Vehicles, Gas Weapons).  There is a complete section on psionic abilities for mutants - the powers add just another fun wrinkle to the game.

My favorite section discusses Toxic Pits.  There are rules for four different types - Acid, Sucker, Exploder, and Mutating pits.  Each of these has unique effects on the battlefield and on certain types of characters.  These rules would also be ideal in more traditional science fiction settings - just imagine these rules are describing strange types of alien flora, or representing different "organs" inside of a living xenos spaceship.

The book continues into the force construction section.  The base point system is identical to UM001 - you purchase characters (infantry, light vehicles, heavy vehicles, etc) by their Elan rating, and then add weapons and special rules to determine their total points value.  UM007 enhances this section by including nine sample army lists, each based around one of the HOF sub-ranges, but easily adapted to figures from other manufacturers.  The book finishes with the post-game sequences, a detailed section on linked games and campaigns, and the guidelines for solo play.

ELECTRONIC EDITION

Available for $5.00
15mm.Co.Uk has also made UM007 available as a downloadable file.  The electronic edition is 21 pages on A4 paper and does feature a bit larger font size.  There are two different versions in the electronic download.  One is a printer-friendly black-and-white copy.  It doesn't have any photos or colorful diagrams.  The other version is full-color with a Biohazard symbol watermark on each page, full-color photos and diagrams.  The color version is perfect for iPads and tablets, or even reading on a larger PC monitor.  A third file includes full-color cover pages, just in case you plan to bind your own printed versions.

The contents of the e-book itself are, of course, identical to the printed book.

HOW DOES IT PLAY?

The USE ME mechanics are very easy to wrap your brain around.  And the character generation system is intuitive and robust enough that you can play a game with a minimum of preparation time.  The combat mechanics consist of a basic to-hit roll (with a small table of modifiers), and an opposed penetration-vs-defense roll to damage your targets.  You need just a handful of markers to represent winged and struck characters.  A variety of small blast-radius templates is also helpful, but not really necessary.

My games have been very enjoyable.  They start out fairly light - just a few "winged" results here and there.  The casualty rate seems to increase more and more each turn, and by the end it feels like your troops can't miss.  The solo mechanics work pretty well, too.  It takes a bit of common sense to figure out what some units should or shouldn't do, but there's enough unpredictability to keep things entertaining.

PLAY AIDS

One last thing - and this is relevant to players of any USE ME title.  Omer Golan has created a template to make USE ME character/unit cards using the free Paint.Net graphics program.  Take a look at Omer's blog, The Space Cockroach's Hideout, for more information!

Cheers,
Chris

Additional USE ME titles from 15mm.Co.Uk!

Building on the success of their USE ME 001 Science fiction rules, 15mm.Co.Uk has released two more titles in that collection.

First up is USE ME 007 - 15mm Post Apocalypse.  From their description: "This is the seventh title in the USE ME series and its the first title created after a year of solid feedback from the wargaming public. We have gone through a core science fiction set of rules and several historical ones plus ventured into space but now we go into a near and bleak future; that of the Post Apocalypse. Returning to the USE ME stable is author O.G.Joel, who has penned among other things USE ME World War Two. He had an interest in the aftermath of a man made, natural or supernatural event that would end our world and bring about a nightmare world of scavengers and technological warlords. This interest and knowledge resulted in these rules. Fast play rules based on the D6 USE ME engine that would suit 15mm scale miniatures (though it will work with smaller or larger scales with ease). From a few personalities in small scenario to squad level with battles involving a hundred or more character including vehicles."

I couldn't help noticing the contents for this book includes four pages called "Factions of a Wasted World."  USE ME 001 only has a generic troop builder section, so this title might go into a bit more flavor and detail than the earlier game.

The other release that caught our eye is USE ME 009 - Zombie Dawn.  From their description: "It is with a moan and a shuffle that I welcome you to the ninth title in the USE ME series of titles. Why a moan and a shuffle? Because its the Zombie Dawn baby; the night, day and eternity of the living dead! This rule set marks a departure from a primarily broad based series of titles for something more specialised.

Gavin Syme created Zombie Dawn in response to gamers requests by the hundreds for an Undead game which was easily played, a little different and most importantly could be played solo as well as with two or more players. Fast play rules based on the D6 USE ME engine that would suit 15mm scale miniatures and has a simple matrix to use 28mm scale miniatures too. From a few personalities in small scenario to squad (called teams) level with battles involving a hundred or more characters including vehicles. USE ME Zombie Dawn achieves all of this and more."

The USE ME first book was great, and plays extremely well for many "conventional" sci fi settings.  But for zombie outbreaks, nuclear apocalypse recovery, and post alien-attack scenarios, we now have a custom-tailored, pocket-size set of rules that can be played with a minimum of preparation.

And if you decide to order these rules - don't forget to pick up some characters from the underrated Laserburn range.  If you order any Laserburn figures before January 31st, you'll get a free Law Officer patrol group consisting of one bike, three foot officers, and a K-9.  Those figures might be very useful as security guards for your post-apocalyptic pharmaceutical corporation, or as new-authority cops trying to keep the peace on the remains of your metropolitan streets...

Cheers,
Chris

The Scene Wasteland Warriors

Here are some nice pictures of latest releases from The Scene which are available now. These post-apocalyptic Wasteland Warriors will be available on foot in packs of 10 (5 different scuplts) for £3.65 and ride some futuristic looking bikes. Wasteland rough riders like the one pictured above will be available for £1.25 each. These are some nice looking additional inhabitants to the 15mm post-apocalyptic landscape!
