It's no secret that Heather and I are big aficianados of the classic 1987 PREDATOR movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura and Sonny Landham. So, to celebrate the imminent release of a 15mm "slackjawed" Special Forces team (SF01-SF07) from The Scene, Dropship Horizon is proud to sponsor a PREDATOR inspired give away!
To have a chance to win the first set of these new minis from The Scene, all you have to do to demonstrate your Predator Mojo is leave a message below, that:
You get more brownie points for answering in the true spirit of this competition!1) identifies SIX animals mentioned by the characters in the film.2) correctly identifies the order in which they are mentioned.
Without doubt, Blain played by Jesse Ventura gets the best lines and in our minds is the most enduring character in the movie. To win the second set of these Special Forces miniatures all you have to do is create:
3) a quote in the style of a typical "Blainism", eg "They're shooting straighter than a Saratoga snake".The "Blainism" Heather judges the best, wins.
The competition is open until Mike puts the figures up on the webshop. Entries made anonymously without a name included in the entry are disqualified for obvious practical reasons, "I'm Brian, and so's my wife!". We're looking forward to seeing your entries - Have fun & best of luck!
Cheers

Hi Mark
ReplyDeleteI'll give it a shot.
1)
-Tyrannosaur, blaine in the chopper (not sure if a dinosaur counts as an animal :-) )
- Alabama Tick, Blaine again as he notes the dug in guerillas.
- Swarming like flies, Hawkins opinion of the guerillas coming their way.
-"The only way outta here is that valley that leads to the east. But I wouldn't wish that on a broke-dick dog." What Billy makes of the only way out
- squirrelly how Mac thinks Billy is acting all morning.
-A Pig, what sets off the trip wire flares and is killed by Mac.
- Like a chameleon, How Anna described the predator changing colour.
2) As best I can remember them they are in the order they appeared in the movie.
3)My Blainism "We're movin' slower than a three legged mule on christmas.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter these guys would fit in great with the stuff I'm working on.
Cheers
Jerry

Hi Mark,
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for a fun competition! OK, here's my answers:
1. 'Tyrannosaurus' As in, "This stuff will make you a Goddamn sexual Tyrannosaurus, like me." (Blain)
2. 'Tick' As in, "Son of a bitch is dug in like an Alabama tick." (Blain)
3. 'Dog' As in, "The only way out of here is that valley to the east, but I wouldn't waste that on a broke-dick dog." (Billy)
4. 'Pig' As in, "Jesus, you killed a pig. Do you think you could have found something bigger?" (Poncho)
5. 'Boar' As in, "That boar had to set off the trip wire, Major, cause there 'aint no other tracks." (Billy)
6. 'Chameleon' As in, "I don't know what it was. It changed colours, like the chameleon. It uses the jungle." (Anna)
7. 'Lizard' As in, "Are you saying that Blain and Hawkins were killed by a f***in' lizard?!" (Dillon)
OK, I know that's 7 animals but it's the ones that I can remember from the film so I thought I'd mention them all!
Blimey, having just typed this has very clearly demonstrated to me that I should get out more.... ;) Ah, the result of a misspent youth...
It's a great film and is chock full of top quotes.
All the best,
Mark
Ahhhh, forgot my Blainism! How about:
ReplyDelete"That sunuvabitch is locked in there tighter n' a clam."
Cheers,
Mark
Nice figure - only way I could win this is to beg
ReplyDeletePLEEEEEEEESE!
Andrew
Beaten by the international dateline! I can't fault Marks answers on the animals - except to sau that Pig and Boar were the same animal so either quote would do and the number is six.
ReplyDeleteThat only leave me a Blainism with which to try and impress Heather:
"In that terrain we'd be movin' slower than a leatherleaf slug thro' a Utah saltmine."
Paddy
I've just been reading Tomorrows War - these figs MIGHT tempt me to yet another old favourite - The Zone series of books. Some suitable GEV APC's from Brigade and GZG, enough neo-soviets (15mm plastics!) abound. The scene's female sniper- Khurasan's rebels.
ReplyDeleteI'm also going to use these guys for AK47 (Crossfire) and bought a couple of packs of Rebels new African Regulars/Militia off the back of the notion - I think the new Rebel figs are more 'African' in appearance than Peter Pig.

ReplyDeleteThats awesome, Dutch and the team will see a great deal of use.
ReplyDeletePrivate Military contractors, special forces, zombie killers and last line of defense from invading aliens.
I'll probably come up with a bunch more over time.
Jeepers this means I'll need to buy a predator from Khurasan, and some stand in banana republic revolutionaries. Hmm I'll need to draw up a list :-)
Cheers
Jerry
