What can I say?........
Painted by Chris Yaro for Khurasan Miniatures. The Felids are available NOW priced $6.99 for ten miniatures, 9 warriors with blasters and 1 Alpha Warrior with Comm-set and micro-missile launcher.
There will also be a Lion Class Attack Transport to accompany the Felids.
I'm putting in an order for 6 packs today (Sat 10th) as my aim is to put them head to head against Critical Mass Games' Protolenes on the tabletop!
Cheers

Best aliens out yet!
ReplyDeleteSeeing these all painted up really shows off their details. Must have some.

Mark - I thought you had over rated these.........until now!
ReplyDeleteLovely!

Oh ye of little faith!

Mark
I still think you have over rated them
ReplyDeleteGeoff
Hi Geoff
ReplyDeleteThought carefully about what you said. I have the minis here in front of me right now. I've held them in my hands and looked at them closely, I've placed them in different configurations on bases to see how they will look, I've looked up camo schemes and visualised what may potentially work. In my mind's eye I can see them in 'combat' on the tabletop and I can imagine playing through Tomorrow's War games with them.
You'll have seen that this week, I have been painting minis that have been sitting unused for months or even years because they lacked what was necessary to make me expend the effort to paint them up.
These guys are here on the kitchen table ready to paint. It's not always about the sculpting, and I think these are very well done, as they bleed energy whihc maybe isn't coming out in the photos. It's about inspiration and these inspire me.
So no, I haven't over-rated them for me.
Cheers
Mark
The only problem I have is that I know mine wont be painted as well as those. The one on the right is perhaps a bit weaker than the rest but that could be perspective; the far left one has a certain "hero of the soviet union" tilt to his jaw - either looking at an inbound dropship or 1001 enemies closing in. actually its an expression i see on our cat when the crows are cackling from the roof at him. bang goes the visa bill. again.
ReplyDeleteNever said 'for you', I said "I think", I still think that, it's my opinion, I'm allowed it. I wasn't insulting of derogoratory about them I just think they've been over rated.
ReplyDeleteGeoff
I want em!
ReplyDeleteRye
You should paint a couple of these models to match your kittens, Mark...
ReplyDeleteI still think these are some of the best aliens to hit the market.
ReplyDeleteGeoff, I don't see that Mark is saying you are not entitled to you opinion. He is, however, qualifying his own.
Jon, that is a great idea. Which of your Felids is going to be Stoli, Mark?
-Eli
Hi Geoff
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad you did. There are times I think the hobby has been held back by the 'Emperors New Clothes' syndrome.
I said "for me", exactly because I recognise that my opinion is subjective and does not reflect everyone's tastes but. I'm also allowed to quantify why I like them.
I rate 'em, you don't nuff said!
Cheers
Mark
Maff (Master Chef), the Felids will repay a careful drybrush technique.
ReplyDeleteExamining the pic - a possible scheme would be
Khemri Brown undercoat.
Heavy wash of Devlan Mud
Point wash Badaab Black (creases etc)
Drybrush Khemri Brown
Light drybrush of orange on the top of the head and ears.
Grey chins overpainted white.
I've started with Calthan Brown - only because I used Khemri Brown on the GZG FCT recently.
Cheers

Ha Ha Jon! I thought of that earlier today when the kittens invaded the kitchen table whilst I was painting!
ReplyDeleteGood idea! That sorts it, I'll paint at least a squad as Russian Greys! With a grey battlesuit, black/white/black tiger stripes.
Cheers
