And a third contestant with both Squad Leaders and Vehicle Commander: 15mm Blood Angels Terminators and a 15mm (of course) Leman Russ by Gunner from Gunners Wargaming

  1. Damn, this is some stiff competition! From the thumbnails I'd swear those were 28 mm SPESS MURINEEEES, but nope. Just some of the best conversion work I've seen at this scale. As for the tank, it's the perfect choice for the dark future's most depressing war ;)

  2. You don't say... I nearly answered Gunner that I couldn't accept his entry because this was a 15mm competition!

  3. Lovely work on both counts both conversions and the paint jobs. Love the lightning on the claws and hammers.

  4. These are great conversions. I too would have sworn they were 28mm until I looked closer. So much detail, ...

  5. The minis are really great and extraordinarily well done. : )
But I was hoping we could finally escape the GW elephant in the room for a change.

    1. At least they didn't make any money off of this ;)

    2. I do not buy GW, although I have in the past, I only make these because they have a nostalgic factor, and I find it fun, I don't actual play 40k, if they make it to a table I will use what ever rules are easily available, as you can see, Khurasan, GZG, Airfix, and Blue Moon have all made money on the 2 units above.

  6. I've been watching the tank's development on Gunner's blog, somehow hadn't spotted the terminators but have looked them up now too. Astounding sculpting!

  7. Dan,
These figures are brilliant and extraordinarily well done. I meant no insult with my post earlier. You summed it up perfectly here, "I find it fun." That is all that matters.
I guess I am just tired of the modern GW and its regimentation and trying to squeeze the last penny out of a dollar. Like you, I find the miniatures great and it brings a feeling of nostalgia from when I really liked those games.

  8. No worries Markmors, Space marines were the first figures I ever bought, back in 1984-85 apart from 1/72 1/76 plastic WWII figures, which I had as a kid, and are what got me into sci fi, I haven't bought much GW since the late 90s, but I occasionally still look at their stuff on line, now I can make a 15mm space marine for less than $1 and have more fun then I could with the real figures, I find I can make 15mm replicas of pretty much their whole line, and have fun doing, I also like to show everyone else that you can do your own thing in 15mm and not have to worry about paying $25 for the genuine character figure that's supposedly needed.

  9. Dan,
That is really cool that you get such enjoyment out of what is art now, at your level of expertise.
