Catching up With 15mm.co.uk Fantasy

I have been quite busy keeping up on all the releases for 15mm science fiction that I have been a bt behind in reporting all the great stuff coming out for 15mm fantasy. I'll start today with a bunch of the releases that have been coming out from 15mm.co.uk.

15mm.co.uk holds the molds to many classic ranges and has continued to remaster and release these models. In addition, they have been expanding on some and releasing brand new sculpts as well, such as what they did with the Trolls and Ogres. The Ion Age dropped a big hammer on the hobby with the release of their Taranis heavy tank. Designed by Bob Naismith, this vehicle came out of the gate with five different variants providing a whole range of weapons options. Now, with this most recent release each of these variants can be had in hover and wheeled variants.

The HADES Wraith team is the advanced combat squad of the Hunter/Ambush Discreet Engagement Section. Each Wraith Powered Armor suit contains advanced stealth systems that allow the Wraith team to infiltrate almost any target undetected.  Wraith teams can also survive hard vacuum and dangerous environments for extended periods of time, making them ideal for infiltration deep behind enemy lines or sabotage missions aboard enemy spacecraft.

Each Wraith team member in their armor stands approx. 12 feet tall and carries either a standard Mk 14 60mm directed energy railgun or a squad support Scythe 180mm directed energy railgun. Either advanced railgun accelerates a variable-formed nano-tech projectile up to 4500 m/s and can be used in anti-personnel, anti-vehicle or anti-structure roles.

The HADES Wraith team is able to be dropped from high orbit and, using an advanced jump pack, transverse great distances without on-planet vehicle or aircraft support.

As each Wraith Powered Armor suit must be controlled via a direct neural link and nerve wiring, Wraith team members are extensively modified. Each limb has been cybernetically replaced and extends inside the suit openings, connecting via hardened cables. The operator is able to exit the suit if it becomes damaged and the cybernetic limbs will automatically retract to a more standard size.

A personal rifle along with other survival supplies are stored in the back of the suit to ensure the operator has a weapon and supplies available if the suit becomes inoperable.

Each HADES Wraith Squad comes with (6) 15mm scaled (approx. 22mm tall) powered armor miniatures in three poses (one with a heavy support weapon), (6) separate heads and (6) separate jump packs.

All Hail The Pumpkin Spore

New Monthly Special Miniature From The Ion Age

Hey folks, 

New month and you all know what that means. Yes, another amazing special character model from The Ion Age. This moth brings us the Florian Pumpkin Spore - 

“It is imperative that this vessel returns to the Precinct immediately to make this dire threat known to the Council of Addens. Our survey of Planet Malthus IV as a possible forward base of operations has failed and resulted in a new and terrible foe. I regret the loss of the five Starvaulters among our company but their noble sacrifice in accordance with the Code Gallant saved the ship and our lives. Unknown tissue infections forced me to expel seven of the remaining crew from our primary airlock. I could not risk the 'Florians' making it back to known space. My own Alwite was nearly breached with the speed upon which they sprung at us from all sides. We had only been touched down for less than three hours and scans had shown Malthus IV to be a good world for settlement with clean air and a lush vegetation that would suit a colony. The Starvaulters were first out of the lock as is their privilege and we others followed. Only some minutes stroll from the ship and suddenly they levelled their Valerin 3Mw Laser Rifles and opened fire at the trees and bushes to their fore. Madness was my first notion but only for a scant moment and then I had my own Carnwennan drawn and joined their fire. The vegetation, the trees, everything was advancing upon us; even the odd grass under my soles was moving and all of it attacking. Screams from the un-armoured crew and survey teams as their flesh was drawn from them. Our beams and bullets burned and exploded dozens, a hundred, but they were endless and everywhere. The very Flora had come to a single minded life! We barely got off the ground before the tide ascended upon itself and tried to grab the ship; only the captains act of firing the orbital thrusters burned us clear. As we rose the forest for miles all around were in motion like water rippling towards our landing site. Princess praised we chose a clearing! We must get back to the Precinct. A whole world of living plants. Florians. I give them this name and I curse it.”

These alien creatures may look like charming Halloween decorations, but as the tale above will attest, they are no laughing matters. While they have their place in the Ion Age, it is clear that they would be perfect for fantasy armies as nature spirits or enchanted hosts or for horror themed games in need of something with a bit of whimsy. Heck, these would work well in 28mm games too.

The Taranis Enters the Field

IAF100 Taranis Tracked Main Battle Tanks 5 Variants now released!

Gavin and his team have had a lot of news coming out for the Ion Age lately. The excitement over the Taranis and the door it opens for The Ion Age has not died down and today marks the release of this amazing tank system and its associated robots. 

There is a lot to tell and so I decided to post Gavin's own words on he subject...

"With the completion of one of the most titanic in scale armourers works ever seen in the Prydian Precinct the complex plans for the lethal weapon of war that would become the Taranis Main Battle Tank were set into motion. The Targa Works would go on to produce such vehicles as the Adder Combat Car and Lifter series and the medium weight Mullo Armoured Fighting Vehicle but these were side and later projects compared to Taranis. Named after an ancient old earth deity a god of war from the isles of mist and rain the Taranis was created to be the mailed fist that would allow the regiments of the Barons and the Throne to continue to expand into space and systems lost during the thousand year old Aldan Crucible detonation. In 4294IC documents retrieved by Starvaulters during an investigation of the ruins of Newbury IV were decoded and artificed. It had taken a decade since their retrieval to decode the records which dated from the time of the great Resource Wars of twenty first century earth. The designs they contained were for a war machine that was the ultimate evolution of a century of tank warfare. Dutifully recorded they were sent out with the Ark Ships into the void. A monster of death this tank was doom incarnate and once updated with the technology Prydia now possessed they were further modified to be able to function in environments far more varied than one planet could have offered. Taranis would be a weapon capable of winning any war against men or the feared Khanate."

IAF100C Taranis Tracked MBT SPB Energy Turret 

This is a Taranis main battle tank with an energy weapon turret featuring a small cabin for a crewman. It is composed of six resin and white metal pieces which are the upper hull, the lower hull, right and left tracks sections and SPB energy weapon turret. It is easy to assemble and is designed to be used for wargaming and thus it is durable. Assembled this vehicle is just over 90mm long and 60mm wide. IAF100D Taranis Tracked MBT Siege Turret

It is easy to assemble and is designed to be used for wargaming and thus it is durable. Assembled this vehicle is just over 90mm long and 60mm wide. Here are pictures of all the IAF100 variants as their parts with under laying scale in 1cm squares for you to look at. All of these images and more are on the web pages for the tanks.

The Tracked Taranis Tank is a big, big model. Sometimes its hard to tell this from photographs so here is a special image showing IAF100D next to four, yes FOUR Adder Combat Cars which combined have the same table 'footprint' as the Taranis. 

Taranis Tanks make use of a screen of Drones acting as a defensive, offensive, repair group controlled by the tank itself. These are shown on table as IAF081 Taranis Running Drones and these can be seen HERE on our website as a pack and as singles.
