Loud Ninja Games - New Post-Apocalyptic Releases

Wasteland Raiders, Rad Zombies & Road Wardens Released by Loud Ninja Games

Hey all,

January brings out three new packs of figures for post-apocalyptic/horror gaming. Sculpted by me (Eli Arndt), I have tried to bring to life some popular themes found in the genre - hoeroic justice fighters, disgusting shamblers and wild raiders. I'm hope you will recognize some familiar characters in this batch as well as find some new personalities and creatures to capture your imaginations.

Thanks for checking out Loud Ninja Games and here is Gavin with the official release info...

Loud Ninja Games headed up by designer Eli Arndt have released three new 15mm packs into the part of the range Wasteland and Mutants on their page at 15mm.co.uk. They join, not only the other packs in that part of the range, but of course the Alien Encounters, Ikwen, Yandrassi and the Chuhuac with over 30 codes into total! Go here, for the whole range and you can refine by search for only Wasteland packs if you wish.

The three new packs are excellent for present day gangers, post apocalypse raiders, near future hunters, and most anything else that needs weird and wonderful in 15mm scale. Highly detailed white-metal miniatures sculpted by Eli Arndt. Here are the details.

RAP030 – Road Wardens
This pack contains three different highly detailed 15mm scale white-metal humans with pistols and a rifle all wearing light armor. Even in the wastes, there are those who cannot abide evil. These brave men and women take up arms in the name of something more than simple survival and take to the roads dispensing justice. They are known by many titles but often go by a more classical, romantic title – Road Warden. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

RAP031 – Rad Zombies
This pack contains five different 15mm scale white-metal radioactive zombies in various poses. Exposed bones, melting flesh and grinning skulls, these are scary foes! In the wastelands and the ruins of the old world, there are those who have been so changed that even after death they continue to menace the living. Whether it is through strange energies, chemical cocktail or mutant virus, Rad Zombies now roam where man once dwelt seeking to feed their insatiable hunger. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

RAP032 – Wasteland Raiders
This pack contains nine different 15mm scale white humans in various poses. Crude weapons, scavenged firearms, punk style hair, rough clothing, these are the guys that haunt the innocent in a nightmare future. In the shadow of the world before, there are those who are so intent on survival that they leave behind all pretence of civility and community, choosing instead to make their fellow man their prey upon which they sustain themselves. Those who take to this life live as bandits, raiders, and much worse, banding together to use might to make their living as Wasteland Raiders. All miniatures are supplied unpainted and without bases.

These new packs go excellently with the fearsome Terrorclops and the helpful Wasteland Buddies as well as the not pictured here Mutants and Super Mutants in the range. RAP028 and RAP029 sculpted by Eli Arndt and painted here by Sam Croes. Enjoy!

Trying Out Grass Tufts for the First Time

I picked up some of the KHG Gamer's Grass tufts from Harold over at ClearHorizon Miniatures and I am very glad I did.

I am not the sort to invest in a lot of special hobby products. I haven't even learned how to use static grass. These little gems, however, may get me to rethink my approach to hobby stuff.

These miniatures were painted and based without the Gamer's Grass but the simple addition of these little tufts to most of the bases lends so much more warmth and depth to the miniatures.

Far Traders of the Ion Age

“Allow me to create a society around the Prydian Precinct. One that exists with the threat of the Prydian Civil War within and the Shia Khan Empire without. The people, the law, the machines and the creatures that populate the planets, the star ports, outposts and even the seedy bars where Retained Knights would fear to tread.”

This month we add another brand new pack to the growing range on The Ion Age sculpted by Dave Foley called the 15mm Ion Age Universe Characters. We will be adding a new pack just about every month and it is my own and Mr Foley's intention to create a 15mm scale figure range that will allow you to get the 'people' of your wargaming on your table regardless of your setting. Previously we have Precinct Adventurers, Precinct Police and Precinct Dignitaries and now we present five more original miniatures: IAF107 Precinct Far Traders! Go HERE or read on.

IAF107 Precinct Far Traders
The fourth pack of 15mm characters in the Ion Age Universe range. Far Traders operate within the outer parts of the Prydian Precinct but also beyond it interacting with Marcher Barons, rebels and even aliens all in the name of trade and profit. Skilled and well armed they can be scouts, or carriers of passengers and deal in rare minerals or information. These Far Traders are excellent civilians and rogues for your collection. Sculpted by Dave Foley this pack contains five different 15mm scale white metal miniatures in the following poses. Sitting bearded male with raised finger trading goods, standing male with top knot showing off goods, young female with shouldered goods, female trader offering boxed item and lastly bearded male trader offering bottled goods. Objects are for you to decide! These miniatures are great for any science fiction or suitable genre of wargaming in 15mm scale when you want something other than warfare or soldiers on your table. As always this code can be bought as a pack or as single miniatures or select the three packs and save 10% options from the drop down menu on the page. Go HERE. Price 2.50GBP per pack.

Here are the details of the previous packs or go HERE:

IAF106 Precinct Dignitaries
The third pack of 15mm characters in the Ion Age Universe range. Moving around the worlds of the Prydian Precinct are those who wish to conduct government work, to support those who need their views represented and to meet with each other to discuss high matters. These Dignitaries are excellent civilian important persons for your collection. Sculpted by Dave Foley this pack contains five different 15mm scale white metal miniatures in the following poses. Female in robes carrying object, Female in robes gesturing, Man in tunic with staff and orb, Female in robes hands clasped and finally Male in tunic holding object.

IAF105 Precinct Police
The second pack of 15mm characters in the Ion Age Universe range. Precinct Police are the local law enforcement on the worlds and colonies of the civilised Prydian Precinct who try to maintain order without the use of deadly force if possible. A first line of law and order. Sculpted by Dave Foley this pack contains five different 15mm scale white metal miniatures in the following poses. All are wearing light armour plates, a helmet and a wet weather cape. Male officer holding a control box for directing city services or droids, carrying portable signs and signal equipment, male officer with public address horn, officer with stun baton raised to strike and lastly running with stun baton. These miniatures are great for any science fiction or suitable genre of wargaming in 15mm scale when you want something other than warfare or soldiers on your table. As always this code can be bought as a pack or as single miniatures or select the three packs and save 10% options from the drop down menu on the page.

IAF104 Precinct Adventurers
The first pack of 15mm characters in the Ion Age Universe range at The Ion Age. Precinct Adventurers are the kind of fellows you need in a scrap or to carry out some dangerous work in a place where the law is a little loose. Sculpted by Dave Foley this pack contains five different 15mm scale white metal miniatures in the following poses. Male adventurer kneeling with a data slab and connected viewer, a hansom male adventurer advancing aiming a Minstrel Taser pistol, male adventurer in long coat signalling a halt holding a Tumbler SMG, male adventurer wearing parts of Aketon armour and at guard pose with a Moth Rifle. Today it is the turn of Dave Foley to add another pack to the range of non military characters we offer and I don't know about you but that young female Far Trader (pose three) is brilliant! Next week we will make all the rest of our releases for January and that will be the packs and platoon set for the Prang Raiders. You can read about that HERE in detail.

GZG Moongrunt minis and other suitable 15mm SciFi mini offerings...

GZG Moongrunt Minis...

Jon over at GZG has released some really nice 15mm minis in spacesuits - the Moongrunt range.

It encompasses two factions currently:

MG15-USLF01    US Marine Corps Extra-Planetary Expeditionary Force Luna, rifles pack A - 6 figures as 2 each of 3 poses, in M31 Protected Pressure Suits (PPS) with separate backpacks, all carrying M225 Laser rifle/low-velocity grenade launcher combo (optimised for low-gravity vacuum use).

It is the near future…. the threat of aggressive action by Chinese military forces against US Lunar Mining installations results in the dispatch of a unit of US Marines specially trained and equipped for low-gravity vacuum environment combat... the MOONGRUNTS are on their way...

MG15-PSF01 - Chinese Lunar Troops (People's Liberation Army Space Force) rifles pack A - 6 figures as 2 each of 3 poses, in Type 28 armoured pressure suits with separate backpacks, all carrying ZH24 Laser rifle/grenade launcher.

It is the near future…. the threat of aggressive action by Chinese military forces against US Lunar Mining installations results in the dispatch of a unit of US Marines specially trained and equipped for low-gravity vacuum environment combat... the MOONGRUNTS are on their way...

You can see some lovely painted minis (by Ralph Plowman) over on this thread on TMP - GZG Moongrunt:

Direct link to Ralph's blog with the painted minis:

US Marine Corps Extra-Planetary Expedition Force Luna:

Chinese Lunar Troops (People's Liberation Army Space Force):

Based on the conversation on the TMP thread listed above - it appears that John Treadaway has seen a new US Marine with a shoulder launched bazooka type weapon. Good news for all of us - as it appears Jon is going to be expanding on this range in the very near future.

Subjective commentary: These are a brilliant addition to the 15mm SciFi scene. They tap into an unexploited, near-future genre of hostile environment skirmishes. I can see battles on the Moon, Mars, or on any other number of hostile exoplanet environments. Perhaps even some Iron Skies scenarios (Thanks Benjamin Starkey) or even some retro Moonraker scenarios? Perhaps even a scenarios or two based on the old Task Force Games pocket games - like Cerberus: The Proxima Centauri Campaign or Moon Base Clavius?

Minis suitable to be used with GZG Moongrunt???

Let's start with other 15mm figures in spacesuits from GZG...

In the Civilians, Colonists, Cops, etc range - we find 5 more suitable packs:

SG15-V10 - Spacesuited crew in light-duty vacc-suits - male and female, 8 assorted figures from 5 variants.

SG15-V11 - Spacesuited crew in heavy-duty EVA vacc-suits - 6 assorted figures from 4 variants.

SG15-V12 - Spacesuited crew in zero-G poses, light and EVA suits, 6 assorted figures plus 6 bases (stand wires not supplied).

SG15-V14 - Armed crew figures in heavy EVA vacc-suits (6 figs)

SG15-V15 - Armed crew figures in light duty vacc-suits (8 figs)

Subjective commentary: These are all solid options - though I must say the pictures are atrociously small and really need to be updated. Even if the zero-g poses don't fit your vision - they might be useful for wounded or deceased troops, floating away...

Moving on to other 15mm SciFi manufacturers...

First - let's take a look at Blue Moon Manufacturing and their offerings:

15ALN-101 - Orion Republic Heavy Infantry - These figures are created to use with the upcoming Galactica Wars I rule book but can be used for so much more. There are 10 figures in this pack.

15ALN-112 - Nova Patrol - These figures are created to use with the upcoming Galactica Wars I rule book but can be used for so much more. There are 10 figures in this pack.

15ALN-118 - Robot Legion Legionaires - These figures are created to use with the upcoming Galactica Wars I rule book but can be used for so much more. There are 10 figures in this pack.

Subjective commentary: All of these options are pushing a bit further into the future than the other offerings - so your mileage may vary.

Next we look at Khurasan with their Federal Defence Force Exterminator Squad:

TTC-2703 - 15mm Federal Defence Force Exterminator Squad in Extreme Environment Suits (x9: sergeant, two SAW gunners and six rifles)

Subjective commentary: These are great sculpts - the weapons and spacesuits fit well with the Moongrunt line and bear a slight resemblance to those found in a movie from 1979 with a rather distinctive xenomorph...

Next we look at RAFM with their Infantry Packs in spacesuits:

RAF07012 - Infantry Pack #1 - Pack includes 9x 15mm sci-fi troops in various poses with assorted weapons.

RAF07013 - Infantry Pack #2 - Pack contains 10 15mm infantry. 1 leader, 1 medic, 8 infantry.

Subjective commentary: These are a good fit for the Moongrunt line - thought the weapons themselves are dated and could use a little updating. Perhaps a bit of kitbashing is in order?

The last manufacturer we will be looking at is Rebel Minis with their Earth Force Marines Army:

Star Army: Earth Force Platoon - This is everything you will need to run an Earth Force Platoon in 5150: Star Army. The set contains 21 Infantry, 1 AutoCannon Gunner, 1 Sniper Team, 1 Missile Launcher, and 3 Command Figures.

Earth Force Command Team - Comes with 6 (2 of each type- kneeling, motioning forward, and using communicator/ controller).

Earth Force Marines Heavy Weapons - The Heavy Weapons Pack comes with 6 15mm Miniatures (2 Sniper Teams, 2 AutoCannons and 2 Medium Missile Launchers).

Earth Force Marines Gun Team - The Gun Team Pack comes with 6 15mm Miniatures (2 Spotters, 2 Mounted AutoCannons w/ Gunners, and 2 Support Infantry).

Star Army: Star Army Platoon - This is everything you will need to run a Star Army Platoon in 5150: Star Army. The set contains 22 Infantry, 1 SAW/AutoCannon Gunner, 1 Missile Marine, 1 Sniper, and 3 Command Figures.

Subjective commentary: The Earth Force Marines fit in extremely well with the Moongrunt minis - their gear is perhaps a bit lighter in weight, but the guns are solid and consistent across the range. Being that the same sculptor was involved in both ranges - this should not be a surprise.

I may have missed an offering or two - if so - please drop a note in the commentary or shoot me an email and I will append the article accordingly.

Hope this article proved helpful for all of you looking for something a bit different in the 15mm SciFi arena.

Kicking Off The New Year With Another New Free Monthly Figure

Gavin never rests (seriously the man never does).

This month we kick off the New Year with a very appropriate monthly special miniatures - IMP29 Cold Climes PM Sergeant!

This figures is bundled up against the elements and is ready for rough duty on a chilly world on the back end of the galaxy. But don't take my word for it. Read on and hear what Gavin Syme has to say about this and other Ion Age news...

“Faercyle II is nowhere. I mean it. I had to look it up. Right out there on the edge of the known Precinct in the least wanted star system of the Camarthen cluster. The Faercyle system ain't like Camarthen itself or the beautiful Myrdan and Ambrosia systems with their beaches and lush farmlands. No, that planet is a near permanent frozen rock just inside the habitable zone of its little sun. Nothing there, nothing living. But one thing we want. Lots of titanium. A damn lot and easy to mine as well through the ice just got to scrape it off. Height of summer you can walk about with just protective clothing, spring and autumn heated Aketon armour is fine but the winter, your choice is indoor or icicle. The heated town and farmlands of Ismere are nice most of the time due to the under soil pipes. Anyway I was put out there back in '21 when the first ore converters were set up. To train a Planetary Militia you know. Not a big contingent but enough for the expected half million population. Took us a year and I was glad to the leave. Cold Climes ain't no fun for a trooper. I took the shuttle to orbit and never looked back. Still can't put ice in my drinks.

So three weeks ago I get a vid call from regional command telling me and the other instructors that we are shipping out along with elements of the 202nd and the 608th ,both good regiments, for Faercyle II. To back up the 'PM' against a new foe. I asked was it the Cannies or the Yordists or some grasping rim baron trying to muscle in on the mining. No answers though. Not until the 'Kildare' jumped in system and I saw we had three other warships with us as well as regimental transports. A big task force with a lot of space borne fire power. Made me sweat. Swapping shots on the ground fine but not up there. Nothing though next to what we were told was actually going on. First contact, real aliens. I had heard of the xeno digs on Camarthen Prime but there was nothing there; only dust. This was different. Seemed that Faercyle had been raided from space. People carried off, buildings destroyed, refined titanium stolen. Alien raiders had attacked the planet.

I swore I would never come back here. But all it took was five years and an alien presence and it was back to the frozen funfair. Two days ago the Kildare spotted incoming ships. Several of them. Smaller than our crates but coming in a a sustained three standard gravities. Like needles straight at the planet. Wanting another shot at the ore or perhaps more. Command has named them 'Prang', no idea why. No idea what they look like and the locals ain't saying much. I am back with the Planetary Militia in my cold climes gear. In Ismere the only star port on this rock, dug in deep. We are ready this time. We will let them land and then see what happens. See what these Prang, these Raiders are all about. If nothing else it will keep the chill off. Man I hate the cold.

Sergeant William Harris, 202nd Muster Regiment, Ismere Starport, Faercyle II. 4326IC

Welcome to the New Year, welcome to 2016 and welcome to what will be the biggest year so far for The Ion Age. We begin with a new alien race this month. The Prang designed by Eli Arndt and coming to us from their SHM roots on our big sister site 15mm.co.uk. January sees new codes for the existing Prang and also the addition of new poses too! A whole Prang Raider force! On top of this we have our excellent Rewards Points System and a new pack in the 15mm Ion Age Characters range by Dave Foley. I suggest that you join our Mailchimp email list (link on the top right) too if you have not already since our email lets you know what is going on and features a unique offer that is really worth it. This month it is an offer you need to go on Patrol to see!

IMP29 Cold Climes Sergeant. For the whole of January 2016 this Planetary Militia 15mm scale soldier is automatically put into every order at the rate of one per order regardless of order value. It can also be bought in any amount on the monthly IMP page of the website for this month only too before being withdrawn on the first of next month. Dressed in cold climes heated Alwite armour and a heavy outer coat and hat the Sergeant is armed with a Moth Type 6 Rifle and is pointing the advance. A great character for your forces. The miniature is one piece in white metal and stands approx 16mm tall.

Of course you earn reward points on all orders too through your account. We realise that some of you may wish to purchase the currently free miniature to get multiples of it without placing a lot of orders so you can do just that. Visit this page on the website for the miniature at a fair price for a special miniature. There is a growing page on the Ion Age website where the current and all former IMP series free miniatures are shown so that you can see what came before. Enjoy and go HERE

This month we are all about the Prang. We will make all of our releases for the month next week but before that we will give you an 'InfoBurst' article about the Prang Raiders and what Eli Arndt has planned for 2016. We welcome him as the next designer into The Ion Age fold. The Prang have their own culture, their own weapons and armour, their own goals. They will be an entire new army! So look forward to that and enjoy the image above. Next for them will be the releases and information! Later in January.

We look back at what was going out free this time last year and now also in our first year too. In January 2015 it was IMP17 Far Trader and in January 2014 it was IMP05 Winter Musterman. You can get them in the Year Collections of formally free on our website HERE but if you click on the links over the codes you can see the blog post from that month and year and see what else we were up to at that time. Time flies and sometimes we forget and I always enjoy the new month update and to look back at last year and further...so much done and so much still to do!

Thanks for reading.
