What is the Afara Strider?

The Afara is our first 15mm mecha and it is a light mecha cast entirely in high quality grey tone resin and supplied in kit form. These kits are easy to assemble from eight or nine pieces with a high degree of posing due to the sockets into which feet, legs and arms fit. Once assembled the Afara stands approx 55mm in height or about three times our typical human sized miniature. There are three variants under the code IAF128 each with its own battlefield role from troop support to anti-armour and close combat. Here is the release information on the codes:

IAF128A Afara Strider 26WA

One resin 15mm mecha kit for an Afara Strider armed with a Valerin 15Mw Laser Cannon arm and Anda 60mm Missile shoulder pod.

IAF128B Afara Strider 26WC

One resin 15mm mecha kit for an Afara Strider equipped for close combat with an Octa Sword, separate Shield and Anda 60mm Missile shoulder pod.

IAF128C Afara Strider 26WB

One resin 15mm mecha kit for an Afara Strider armed with a Bodkin Howitzer arm and Hermit 50mm Grenade Launcher shoulder pod.

Where does this new model fit in The Ion Age?

During games of Patrol Angis there are vehicles deployed using the Callsign Taranis expansion book. Walking vehicles such as the Afara Strider are included in the rules with stats for play in the book too. In vehicle only platoons of three striders they are deployed as light or medium vehicles in opposition to Espaten Portable Weapon platforms or Adder Combat Carsand Lifters. They can take on a Mullo armoured fighting vehicle but they are no match for the mighty Taranis main battle tank. Afara's in the field supported by lances of Retained Knightscan deal with some serious odds such as the Canlastrian encroachment on the Everian Temple on Gatsby III during the Prydian Army's liberation of the planet. With its great mobility and moderate firepower the Afara is a welcome addition to any force.

We hope you enjoy these offers and that our entry into the next category of 15mm scale vehicles can be a part of your 15mm science fiction wargaming collection. Here are some two scale images for you and remember you can ask any question you like by sending it toinfo@theionage.com and we will do our best to answer it.

Three Days Remain

The Ion Age's Terrain Early Supporter Offers

There are just a couple of days remaining on the Early Supporter Offers (ESO) for the new expansions to the Ion Age modular terrain system. Running until November 28, you can find some great deals on this incredibly versatile terrain system - HERE

Big News on Big Wheels

The folks at the Ion Age have out up the Early Supporter Offer (ESO) for one of their biggest vehicles yet. The Mullo, is a six-wheeled, turreted armored fighting vehicle which, like many of their other vehicles and accessories comes in a number of variants (see images below).

I feel this vehicle is another that breaks from the mold of the harder, grittier scifi and fits lovingly into the fold of more classic, Space Opera styling. I also see it in a number of settings from its parent setting The Ion Age to other battle across the stars against evil empires. I can even see it painted in law enforcement colors, rolling through the blasted streets of a mega-city.

For full info on the Mullo head over - HERE

Building Toward The Future

New Terrain From The Ion Age

The Ion Age continues to roll out new stuff at a steady pace with five new geo domes. Made in resin with metal parts, these cool habitats are perfect for setting up that far-flung settlement or temporary base. There is even a damaged version. Right now, these domes are available in an Early Supporter Offer (ESO) allowing you to pre-order them as part of a deal.

For full details, read - HERE

Also on the brew is an insanely cool piece of battlefield terrain, IAF041 Corbal Deployable Hardpoint. This awesome structure represents, of all things, an orbitally dropped bumker structure that digs in and secures a section of battlefield. This item will become available in an introductory offer August 14, 2014.

For more info, read - HERE.

New Adder Combat Lifters

As if the Adder Combat Cars weren't cool enough, they are now coming in a hovering lift format. The early supporter offer (ESO) for these vehicles is live, allowing you to get some great deals.

IAF036A Red Adder Combat Lifter (Mini-Gun Turret) 3.00GBP (save 25% off 4.00GBP)

IAF036B Yellow Adder Fire Support Lifter (Missile Pod Turret) 3.00GBP (save 25% off 4.00GBP)

IAF036C Black Adder Punch Lifter (Rail Gun Turret) 3.00GBP (save 25% off 4.00GBP)

IAF036D Orange Adder Combat Lifter (Hermit Grenade Turret) 3.00GBP (save 25% off 4.00GBP)

IAF038 Smashed Adder Lifter (Hover Destroyed Vehicle) 3.00GBP (save 25% off 4.00GBP)

There is even a damaged vehicle version that is useful for an objective marker or just plain terrain.

Grey, the Color of its Resin!

The Adder, Slithering on to Your Table Soon From the Ion Age

Another awesome Early Supporter offer being made from the folks at Ion Age. This cool new four-wheeled roller remasters and updates the old model in five varieties, including a wreck. Once released, they will be available in bundles or separate, but right now you can order them in a number of Early Supporter bundles detailed - HERE.

Time Running Out on Duxis Early Support Offers

Hey folks!

Just a quick reminder that the Early Supporter Offers for the awesome Duxis Battlesuit runs out on February 20th, 2014. That's still plenty of time to slip in an order and get yourself a bundle of badass before they run out!

Ion Age - Havelock Battlesuit Early Supporter Deal

Attention Dropship Passengers,

The Ion Age continues to get better and better. After just releasing teaser pictures of the awesome Havelock heavy battlesuit, Gavin and crew have got a sweet deal on the table to support their pending release of this really cool model.

This time, it's not just one deal, but two ways to get in early and get some good extras in additon to the battlesuits themselves...

This promotion runs until November 14, 2013 (the worldwide release date) and any Early Supporter orders, received before or up to that date, will ship on that date. These battlesuits are made in metal and the fabricator spire is in resin. Each battlesuit comes with a full set of weapons so you will have plenty of options for armament and quite a few left for conversions and such.

I am digging this model and even if you are not an Ion Age fan, this is a worthy addition to any scifi force that needs a stompy mecha suit. For more back story and pictures, visit the Ion Age Blog and have a read.

Hurry and don't miss out!
