Craig at Critical Mass Games kindly send me some samples of the forthcoming Protolene Khanate range, which will be available at the end of the month.
Without doubt these are excellent miniatures! Craig told me that they learnt a lot from the earlier Arc Fleet releases and put that knowledge into the Protolenes. Well, it shows!
Critical Mass Games Protolenes (right)
The photos tonight are just to give you a taster. The figures are even better than any photos I've seen so far suggest. It's a real pleasure to hold them and the execution of some of these miniatures is amongst the best I've ever seen in 15mm.
The Protolenes have a distinct style that is very different and ergonomic than the slightly more angular Felids. In overall build, I would say they are smaller in stature too, not much, but enough on the tabletop to illustrate that they are different species.
They are going to fit a variety of roles in my Sci Fi gaming. From having their own Protolene military formations on the tabletop, to appearing as scouts in human armies and providing more characterful bounty hunters, adventurers and ships crew to populate my game 'verse.
Right! Time to make sure I place an order for more Felids as enemy/allies and look seriously at the potential for a 'Children of the Gods' style army combining the Protolenes with GZG's SG15-SFE1 Sci Fi Egyptians with Jackal headed helmets.
