GZG Prefab Base Modules

.
We have family staying. Like a magnet this is drawing other family members to our home, making us a hub of family affairs at the moment. Every evening is like that wretched TV show 'Come Dine With Me' - large gatherings, formal dinners, booze and late nights.

Our lives are not our own and I'm having to sneak away for a couple of minutes here and there for some peace and quiet amidst the noisy chatter of the internet.

On the plus side it meant someone was at home today to collect my GZG parcel. The Prefab Base Module Set, ordered Tuesday evening.

I don't know why, but I was expecting these to be resin. Instead they are all metal affairs, crisply moulded - little bit of flash, but nothing of note and I have to say, excellent value for money.

Looking forward to putting them together.

Cheers

  1. Ah such fun times,

I sometimes count myself lucky for a small apartment home. I have an automatic excuse to not entertain at my home!

Mark, do us all a favor and snap and post some pics of the raw models when you can. I'd love to see them "out of the pack" so to speak.

    Take care buddy,

  2. I have Eli, but unfortunately my USB ports aren't recognising the camera. I'll sort it out at the weekend or use the older 2mp camera.

  3. Those are metal, then!? Wow. I thought they were resin, too.

I've got to get an order in for them this weekend . . .

  4. Metal? That's a surprise. Interesting. Gotta save up some cash to place an order soon!
    Looking forward to your pictures!

  5. I did mention in all the news and previews that these were in metal - guess a lot of folks missed that! ;-)
Making them hollow multi-part kits in metal (which makes them no heavier than a solid filled resin casting would be) means that they are much more versatile for conversion etc, and you can hide figures under them! :-)

  6. I am curious. If they are all multi-part kits, does that means that the walls sections are seperate and could potentially be rearranged in different shapes with a little modelling?

  7. Eli - absolutely, yes. The basic module is 2 side walls, 2 end panels and a roof. The double-length "barracks" module has a couple of little adaptor bits that join the two wall sections together in the middle, and you could easily make much bigger units with a little work.

  8. Too excited to read actual words Jon - was blinded by "MUST HAVE!" before my eyes.

I'll post some pics of the flat packs tomorrow Eli.
