  3. Big props to Mark for his propping of the hobby. Link to this anouncement on my blog as well as a nod to all the work being done on expanding the 15mm sci-fi hobby.

  5. Thanks for the compliments Mike and Eli.

Working on FAD & ASqL previews this week Ian.

If I remember correctly, the John Bear Ross AFV's were sold to 'Bungle' a couple of years back. Bungle had two ranges of 15mm nice looking Sci Fi sculpted, but which still haven't made the light of day. So, counts as missing in action at this time.

    Cheers

  6. I have to second Mark here. As long as I've been seeing the renders and such from JBR and to not have seen a single production model almost makes them miniatures vaporware.

The prototypes look alright. I honestly find them a bit busy for my tastes but, if they get into production it's all good.

  7. I wonder why people do that guys?
I mean as a sculptor, I labore over the putty, it takes me 2 or even 5 days to make a singel 15mm figure. That said, I will have all of them cast.
I do not understand why people pay for work and than do nothing with it. I have done about 20 sculptures for small would be miniatures companies, and none of them ever started their companies.
This is very odd to me.

  8. It's not really a matter of don't as much as can't, I'd imagine. I figure a lot of these companies start with grand plans and get caught in a reality storm and can't get into final production.

  9. Well, sure they paid a sculptor or a few to do the figures.
Now on top of that they have to pay for the molds and castings. I can see how that could get way to expensive for the small starting company.
Then there are the guys like me with the reverse issue. I can sculpt, but have to pay rent and eat, and then I can pay for the molds and casting.
    :)

  10. I have paid for sculpts and not released them before or held off a bit. For me it comes down to the overall objective of the line. I'll get something back, look at it and decide it does not really fit in the direction I want to go, I'll shelve it.
Or is come cases, another line may be really taking off and the best useage of my money is to produce the "hot" line and shelve the slow guys.

  11. Well Mike, that is smart. How are the new Sci-Fi miniatures doing for you?

  12. They are doing pretty good. I hope to have more stuff out soon to keep things going....

  13. I think you should add a support bot, like a SM(GW) Dread for them.
That will make people more aped to get into the army.
    What do you think?

Also, I ordered some of your new guys. I like them...I also have your Zombies and Human Hunters.
I plan to use them as scale comparisons with my new 15mm figures, if you do not mind.

I intend to promote your company as much as possible. When people ask me to make modern humans or sci-fi troops in fighting gear and such...I WILL refer them to your fine camp. Why should I piss away my limited mold cash on that when you and GZG have great looking humans...that is stupid I think, for me to even go there.
    Keep making 15mm humans Mike.

Between all of your very cool humans, and all of my crazy Aliens and Monsters, it will give people a reason to take 15mm more seriously...you know.

The better the selection they have to pick from the more they will game in our preferred scale.
28/30mm figures are used more, for now, but that does not make them better, it just means that people need more than WWII and Napoleonics to get them excited, IMHO.
    :)

  14. Yeah, the sad part about doing work is not being able to show off, sometimes. The Saenz and Fletcher were some of my favorites, but hopefully now they'll see production from Bungle. Time will tell.

    Best,
    JBR

  15. On happier note, I'm glad 15mm is getting the attention I thought it deserved for the last decade, or more. Kudos to this blog for spreading the word on 15mm goodness.

    Best,
    JBR
